“So about this whole me judging you thing,” he says.

Tegan bites her lip and waits for whatever it is he has to say.  She can’t talk to him, she was an idiot early that day, who the hell was she to give him the 3rd degree about anything.

“You’re right.  I did judge you, but you did too.”

“I did,” says Tegan.  It wasn’t a question, he was right, she had judged him.

“Yeah, you did.  You see a guy with glasses who works on computers, wears what I wear…”

“That’s not all I see,” says Tegan.  “That is what you project, but you’re more than your pocket protector and you glasses.”

“You said I had nice eyes,” says Matt.

“You do,” says Tegan.  “And I like the everywhere hair.”

“You have gorgeous eyes.  You are stunning,” he says.  He blinks rapidly as if assessing what he is saying.

Tegan sees the hot blush on his cheeks even in the dim lighting of the room.  “I wish I wasn’t,” she states.  She’s never said that to anyone before.  Being beautiful was great, it was great for models and actresses, but in real life, people who were shallow wanted to be your friend.  Real people, like Rylee, like Spencer and Abby, and even Sydney would never have entered her sphere in her other life.  They weren’t shallow, they had substance, her old friends, the ones who never called or emailed, they were bottomless pits of nothing.

            “What?” asks Matt.

“Life is not easier when you are beautiful.  It is not easy when you are a geek.  It’s not easy when you’re a trouble maker.  Life is hard.  We all have our burdens to carry.  You’re not alone,” says Tegan.

“Are you coming to summer semester?” asks Matt suddenly.

“I don’t know,” says Tegan.  “Are you?”

            Matt nods.  “Yes.”

“Then maybe I’ll have to rethink my summer vacation,” says Tegan.  She walks away from Matt without saying anything more.  All the while, she is smiling broadly.

Spencer sneaks out of the gym, having told Sydney what had happened.  Now she is out looking for Rylee.  Closing her eyes, Spencer lets her powers rove out, feeling for Rylee, it only takes a few minutes and Spencer finds her aura. It’s sweet like a drop of honeysuckle on her tongue.

By the pond.  Rylee has a thing for water, having grown up beach side in Hawaii, Rylee is a self proclaimed water bunny.  Spencer knows she misses it, the beach and the sand, but that Rylee has found herself here, at The Academy.

Spencer dashes off to find her, wanting to talk to her girlfriend.  It is odd, how they’d instantly become girlfriends, it is as if it is destine.  Feelings that Spencer never thought she’d feel now resonates from her daily.  The inner need to be able to touch Rylee, just too simply hold hands, pains her because every time they try to touch, Spencer zaps Rylee.  Every day, Spencer feels Rylee slipping away from her and Spencer just wants to grab her and never let her go.

Spencer sees her from afar and she stops.  She flexes her left hand, letting some of her extra energy to bleed off in to the earth beneath her feet.  When she couldn’t any push anymore away from herself she pushes just a bit more, almost to the point of weakness.  “Lee,” calls Spencer from a few feet away.

Rylee wipes her nose with the back of her hand.  “Just go away, okay, I really can’t talk about this anymore, it’s been talked to death already.”

“I don’t want to go away,” sighs Spencer.  “I’m sorry that I can’t touch you, I’m sorry that I can’t hug you right now.  I’m sorry that as our powers get stronger that we can touch less!  I’m sorry I’m a freak of nature.”

Rylee takes a deep breath.  “I don’t care.”

“You.  Don’t.  Care?” asks Spencer aghast at the thought.  “How can you not care?  I care!  I care a hell of a lot!”

“You do?” says Rylee reeling around and staring at Spencer.

“Yeah, I do!  I want to control this damn power so that I can touch you, that I can be with you, hold you,” says Spencer.  “This drives me crazy.  You know, I don’t need sleep, right?  I can stay up for weeks on end as long as there is something I can sap of energy.  I lie in bed at night and just look at you.  I want to be with you.”

            “You want too…,” swallows Rylee.

“Our energies just push us apart, when all I want to do is come together,” says Spencer.  “God!  I want to be rid of these powers!  I want to be normal with you!” roars Spencer, her blonde hair flying in the breeze that drifts off the ocean around them.  “I want some spell to take them all away!”

Spencer extends her left hand, fingers splayed and she lets a copious amount of energy erupt from her fingertips, making Rylee backpedal away from her.  Bleed, just bleed away, thinks Spencer.  The bright blue waves of energy start to fade until it disappears almost completely.  “Come here,” says Spencer in a deep tone.  The flicker, the deep flicker, that she remembers as a child.  She feels it she’s ebbing away but Spencer holds tight, needing Rylee more than she needs the energy.

Rylee steps up to her, the moonlit night illuminates the world around them just enough so that Rylee can see that Spencer’s blue eyes are now amber.  Spencer grabs her, her hand find the nape of Rylee’s neck, pulls her close and kisses her.
