All you have to do is reach to touch me
To see the fires rise in my eyes
Take your hand and feel my heartbeat
That safe warm place where you reside

Each day I hold on to watch the hours pass
The minutes melt away until you come home
For now all I can hold is just the shadow
Of my heart that is no longer just my Own

Lay down so close and see
All that I want to feel
Is just you and me
Open your heart to see
All that I need right now
Is you breathing me

So spread your wings and come inside
And tell me I'm the one your heart needs
Let me hear the words "forever mine"
Pass from your lips as my eyes, they plead

Come my love, show and take me to heaven
That place, where I've been so afraid to go
Please show me the way for I'm no angel
Entice the bliss within that only you can show

Lay down so close and see
All that I want to feel
Is just you and me
Open your heart to see
All that I need right now
Is you breathing me

There's only one way, just one thing I need
Give me your heart, and I’ll take mind
It’s all truth or dare, and nothing is fair
Just let me hold your heart and make you mine

I'll be there to smile and dry your tears
The One to stand forever at your side and fight
To hold you tight and wish the fears away
The One you'll run to in the darkest night

Lay down so close and see
All that I want to feel
Is just you and me
Open your heart to see
All that I need right now
Is you breathing me

The sun shimmers into the room through the small opening in the drawn curtains and it falls across Tegan’s face.  The brightness makes her stir, but she holds fast to sleep.

Matt traces a finger over her cheekbones, down to her chin, then to her lips.  She stirs again but doesn’t turn away.  He knows he’s in love because he’s never wanted anyone as much as he wanted Tegan.  It was beyond her beauty, beyond her powers but something deep in her soul that made him want to watch her grow old, and grow old with him.

His old would be forty, maybe forty-five and accepting that had been difficult, yet loving her seems to elevate that anger.  Twenty or more years with Tegan will be more life than he might have had without her.  Her eyes creep open.  “You’re weirding me out,” mutters Tegan.

“This is how I want to wake up every day for the rest of my life,” says Matt.  He eases the blanket up.

“Not going to happen,” says Tegan.  “You realize that usually the alarm will ring and we’ll bounce out of bed.  We’ll be running around and getting in each other’s way, hogging the bathroom.”

“I never hog the bathroom,” says Matt.

Tegan hitches up on her elbow and runs her fingers through his hair.  “Yeah, this head of hair ain’t ever seen the working end of a brush.”

Matt playfully pushes her onto her back and kisses her neck: he pulls her close and settles into her arms.  “You are so difficult.”

Tegan giggles.  She wraps her arms around him, pulling him close and the swell of emotions riddles her.  She tries, without success, to push it back.
