“Mom, you’re not going to freak her out, are you?” asks Rylee as she makes the bed.  Spencer’s bed, she corrects in her mind.  Unsure if she can control herself with Spencer in the house, the urge to kiss her is sometimes overwhelming.  Rylee hates that she has this unrelenting crush on Spencer, but it is there and she’ll just have to deal with it.  That one fleeting moment at the dance has been something that Rylee has replayed in her head endlessly; she’d even convinced herself that Spencer had kissed her back.

“How would I do that?” asks Emma.

“You know, seeing things?” asks Rylee.  “If you do, keep them to yourself, would you?”

“When did you start?” asks Emma, leaning on dresser.  “I started when Jo turned on my power…”

“When I was five,” says Rylee with a scoff.  “I thought I was nuts at first, but then I saw you doing it too, like you’d start to make supper and then figure out that dad was in the mood for chicken not steak.  It was little things, like where the keys were at first.  Now, it’s more, I see all sorts of weird things.”

“Do you like her?” asks Emma.  “Spencer I mean?”

“I like them all mom,” says Rylee.  Then she sees the look on her mother’s face.  “Oh!”

Emma laughs.  “Baby, it’s okay if you do – I’ve just seen how that can ruin a friendship.  I make no judgments because you are who you are.  I just want you to know what you are getting into.  Being in love with your best friend can be – complicated.”

“We are not Jo and Amy,” snaps Rylee.  “There will be no tragic endings. I refuse to have a tragic ending in my life!  I utterly refuse!”

“Okay,” smiles Emma crossing the room and wrapping her arms around Rylee, kissing the top of her head and smiling.

“You want to what?” asks Rylee in a shrill voice.   A much older Rylee Scott, her face is the same, but her hair is different and her eyes were that of someone who’d seen a long life at a young age.

“Get married?” offered Spencer Wheaton in a pleading but loving tone.  A vision of an older Spencer, her hair is short, spiked, thicker than Jo’s had ever been.  Her blue grey eyes were backlit with an aura of blue power.

“You’re being romantic,” chided Rylee, wagging a playful finger at Spencer.

“I’m just being honest, come on, me and you, hitched – what is wrong with that picture?” asks Spencer.

“Nothing, I didn’t say there is anything wrong with it, just, really?” asks Rylee, her voice taking on a child like quality.

“I love you, what more do we need?”

“Mom?” asks Rylee snapping Emma from the vision.  “What on earth did you see?  Oh, it’s something bad, isn’t it?  Please tell me someone isn’t about to die, tell me what you saw?”
