My eyes widened at the thought.
This was just like before, except, this could determine the freedom we had.

...But...
I couldn't let this happen.
Shadow had the risk of dying again! I made a promise and I intend to keep it.

I wouldn't let this battle begin...
But what about my plan?
It could never work with these two forces together...
So, what did I really expect?

"Y'know, you don't have to do this..." I tried saying...
"Of course I do." Shadow kept her head facing Looka...

"You don't have to end it this way!"

"Yes I do. Look, I've changed. In this world it's kill or be killed!"

And that's when I realized,
Shadow and I, that's what set us apart. That's how we were different.

She's...
Changed?
Could that mean she was like me once?
...She was different once.
Could she not be a pacifist?

She turned to me with a cold look in her eye that sent shutters down my back. "You have to fight to survive. Remember that."

It was another blur...
Shadow and Looka had taken their stances, and they leaped at each other... Did I not mention that Looka had an iron sword as well? Of course, Looka and Shadow could both fly so none of them had the wing advantage....

I didn't know what to do...
All I could do was stand there in shock...
I just stared up at them, fighting...
I couldn't move, I couldn't breathe...

You're in control...

It was time for me to fix that.
I took what would be the hardest step in my life. It was like I was a statue, trying to do the impossible: move.

One by one, one stiff after another, I began to walk myself over to them...

And there will be a day where you can say you're okay and mean it...
