Mitch decided to be the one that sat beside Danny this time, because for whatever reason Scott really didn't seem to like him.

After they'd ordered, Connie immediately started the conversation with a smile. "You look nice today, Scott."

Scott glanced down at his sweater, shrugging. "Thanks."

"Anyhow... I've been speaking with Danny, and... I've come to the decision that I want you to make your own choices. You and I both know what Rick's been doing, but seeing as the fact that you're an adult now, I'd like you to decide where you want to go."

"I'm staying in Texas."

Connie's smile fell a little. "That's not... Exactly what I was hoping to hear."

"Sorry." He shrugged.

"Scott, are you sure you want--?"

"Why did you give me the choice if you were just gonna argue with me?"

"I thought you'd make a better choice than that. I thought Mitch would've convinced you to come with me."

Mitch glanced over at her. "Oh... He and I didn't talk about that. I didn't want him to be influenced by my opinions. He's an adult, and an individual, and I believe that he knows what's best for him."

Connie shook her head a little, looking back to Scott. "After what he did to you? You'd rather be with him than me?"

"I know that he was an asshole, but at least he showed up." Scott argued. "He didn't ditch me and ignore me all my fucking life."

"That's your argument? You'd rather be shoved around and disrespected than 'ignored'?"

"It's not even about him, really. I'm not leaving Avi and his family, and I'm sure as shit not leaving Mitch. I have Alex, and Kirstie, and Kevin, and... They've all cared about me more than you ever did. So I'm not going anywhere."

They hung out in the hotel for a little longer, before it was time to leave.

Scott carried the bags downstairs while Mitch searched the room to be sure nothing was left behind.

Scott hurried back to the room, seeing Mitch without a shirt on for some reason.

Scott stopped in the doorway. "Babe, the door is open. What are you doing?"

Mitch glanced at him, not embarrassed or shy in the slightest. "I found one of your shirts on the floor, and I wanna wear it."

"But the door is--"

"I was on my way out when I saw it." Mitch quickly slid on Scott's white button up, neglecting to actually button it. "It's cute, I think."

"On you, it is. You're gonna button it, aren't you?"

"It's kinda warm outside... But I will if you want me to."

"Just until we're in the car. If you don't mind."

"Oh, I get it. You're being possessive." Mitch started buttoning it up. "We didn't leave anything, by the way. Just your shirt."

"Sorry.. Just don't have it in me to be jealous right now."

"It's okay. I understand."

"Good. Seen Connie?"

"Nah. I think she left."

"Oh cool." Scott reached a hand out. "Let me carry that for you, babe."

"It's just a shirt."

"But still." Scott took it anyway, draping it over his arm before leading Mitch out the door. "Need to pee before we go?"
