Mitch was now sitting in the waiting room of the dentist's office waiting for Avi, mindlessly texting people on his phone.

Eventually he got a little bored, and called Scott again.

Scott took a bit longer than normal to respond, but he did answer. "Yeah, babe?"

"Sorry... Kinda bored. Can I talk to you guys until Avi gets out?"

"Sure. You're at the dentist's?"

"Yeah. It's too quiet."

"Mitch, will you please yell at Alex again? I'm trying to drive like a maniac and he's being all quiet."

Mitch frowned. "Allie, did you eat?"

"I can't, Mitch. You don't understand."

"I definitely don't understand. You're like... Pure muscle. How can you deny yourself food?"

Alex pouted, and looked down at his lap. "Coach told me I was getting fat." He mumbled, slightly embarrassed.

Scott spoke this time. "He, what?"

"He... He told me he knew I was cheating on my diet, because he could see it on my stomach."

Mitch frowned again. "But you're not cheating your diet. You're like, the strictest eater I've ever met. And, mind you, your stomach looks perfectly fine."

"As nice as that is... I'm not seeking your approval, Mitch. I'm seeking his. He's threatening to demote me from team captain."

Mitch looked up to see Avi walking toward him, and he quickly passed the phone to him. "Tell Alex how attractive he is."

"What?"

Scott recognized his voice and grinned. "Hey, Av. What's up?"

"We're about to leave the dentist's office. Where are you guys?"

"Like... Ten minutes from the school."

"Oh good. We'll meet you there, then."

"Deal."

As soon as the two cars arrived, Mitch jumped out and ran to give Alex a hug. "Honey, you are not getting fat. That's ridiculous."

Alex didn't respond to him.

Avi eyed Scott's car. "Wow. You haven't taken that thing outside in a while."

"I'm always kind of nervous about it...  But whatever. I was speeding like crazy, so. Perfect car for it."

Avi chuckled a little. "You're one ballsy son of a bitch, you know that?"

Alex cleared his throat. "Um, guys? Aren't we late?"

Mitch stopped and turned to Avi. "Oh shoot, I left my wallet in your car."

Scott just waved a hand at him. "Don't be stupid. I've--"

"Don't call me stupid. But continue."

Scott paused a moment, seeing his mistake. "Sorry, babe... Um. I've already got your guys' tickets. Got them from Kirstie earlier."

Mitch smacked his arm lightly. "I told you to stop that."

"Stop what?"

Mitch rolled his eyes. "You're not cute."

"I am very cute." Scott argued.

"You are not."

"Yeah huh. I'd have to be, to score a date with someone like you."
