It took a total of about 5 hours to meet where Connie instructed him to meet her and Rick, which just so happened to be a place she was renting for a few months in her search for Scott.

Scott got them a hotel room close by, because he didn't want to stay with his parents. No matter how much it was gonna cost, he didn't give a shit because it was better than being with Rick.

This gave them time to relax a little, because Connie invited them over for dinner.

Kirstie made the executive decision that she'd share a bed with Scott, and then Alex could have the other. Of course Alex didn't want to be singled out, and immediately fought it.

He frowned, dropping his black bag onto the ground. "But... That's not fair. You're the only girl, you should get to be by yourself. Or, uh... Scott paid for all of this, so he should get to relax in a bed by himself."

Scott rolled his eyes. "Alright children. We'll settle this like we're ten years old, since we're all gonna act like we're ten years old. We can all take turns."

Kirstie giggled a little. "Okay, that's fine with me. How many days are we gonna be here?"

Alex sat down on the edge of one of the beds. "I packed for five days, just in case."

Kirstie glanced at her large (over packed) suitcase. "Yeah... I packed for like fifteen."

Scott shrugged, looking around the room. "Sorry, guys... I'm not really sure yet. I know that's shitty of me, and it was so cool of you guys to ditch everything and come out here with me, but... I don't know yet."

Kirstie just smiled. "It's okay. Don't be so hard on yourself. We understand that you're in a tough situation."

Alex nodded once, and stood from the bed. "Yeah, no worries. I just gotta let my mom know when I'll be back, is all. So whenever you find out..? But it's no hurry." He gestured toward the bathroom. "Does anyone have to pee, or..? I wanna take a shower before we go over there."

"We have time." Scott started. "It's not til like six or something, so..."

Kirstie grinned and jumped on one of the beds. "Can we watch a movie?"

"Whatever you want, Kit."

School ended about a half hour after Scott had arrived at the hotel, but he was waiting for Mitch to text/call first because he didn't want to interrupt anything.

Mitch ended up calling as soon as he got home, a smile on his face the instant Scott answered. "Hey, blondie."

Scott stood from the bed. "Hey, babe." He looked at Kirstie and pointed toward the hallway. "I'm gonna go out there to talk to him, okay?"

She nodded, grinning widely, before she turned back to her movie.

Scott slid a room key into his pocket, and then stepped outside of the room. "How was school today, baby?"

"Not as good without you. And since Alex was gone, I had to have a different lab partner. And he doesn't know what the Hell he's doing."

Scott leaned on the wall of the hallway. "You sound upset, babe... Tell me about it?"

"Just... He kept trying to act like he knew what was going on. And I kept having to correct him, and then he'd correct me, but I swear I know what I'm talking about."

"I know you do. You're like the smartest person I've ever met."

"Aw... You're so sweet." Mitch paused as he walked around his house, into his bedroom, and closed the door. "Can you video chat at all?"
