Chapter 81- Letters💌

After the fail of the harvest, the original extended family returned home, it was now dark and still rained heavily, they were all drenched and upset, not a great mix, upon returning home they each wondered away to their rooms as couples. Niklaus cradled Bella in his arms as they reached the rooms, she was shivering uncontrollably and goose bumps had arisen along her skin. She grinned up at him and slid onto her feet, hugging her arms around his waist.

"I'm going for a bath" she smiled up at him and entered the bathroom, he walked over to his desk and started going through the mail that Elijah had handed him earlier in the day, most of it was just rubbish, he'd secretly been planning their engagement party but he was yet to inform his fiance.

Klaus opened his draw to get out his pen to sign some paperwork and he found eight unopened letter within, he curiously read the address and saw that they were all for Bella. He was curious but didn't invade her privacy, returning them to their former location. Klaus heard the bathroom door open as he completed his paperwork, the desk had been installed a few days ago and was placed in front of the window, it was big with two chairs.

Bella reentered and walked over to Klaus, dressed cutely in light blue pajamas that made him smile at her innocence, her hair was loosely tossed up into a ponytail.

Nik reached his arms out as she walked towards him, sitting her on his lap and she looked at the paperwork in front of her, he seemed to be planning a party, she frowned at it and looked up at him curiously while he smiled sheepishly in return.

"I'm planning our engagement party" he confessed and she grinned, she had wanted to do the same but wasn't sure if he'd wanted one or not.

"Brilliant" she grinned and then remembered her letters, pulling them from the draw and walking over to her seat at the desk, opening one letter at a time, Klaus returned to his work, occasionally glancing at her.

The first letter she opened was from Carlisle, it read:

Dear Isabella.
I apologize greatly for leaving so abruptly but we felt unneeded, i greatly thank you for the amazing Christmas that you have given us. We shall always be your family and your friends, as long as you need us we shall be there but you have a new life and i wish you all the best within it. I hope your wedding is everything you wished it to be and you eventually have the child you've always wished for. I'll always be here for you, you are my daughter, through blood or not. I love you my daughter, love Carlisle Cullen. Xx

Bella couldn't help but tear up after reading it, she hadn't meant to push away her old family, they still meant the world to her and she was saddened that she had, Carlisle was the only father she had, he was the closest she'd ever had to the father she'd lost, she'd always wanted Carlisle to be the one to walk her down the aisle at her wedding. Luckily, Klaus didn't notice her tears and she moved onto the next letter.

Dear Beautiful Bella,
I hope this letter finds you well, i did not wish to leave you in such a way but i found i had little choice, you no longer need me, you have Katherine as a mother figure now though i will forever be here, i am sure you shall be a great wife and mother in the future, i cannot apologize enough for the pain my family caused you but i hope you find the happiness you deserve with your new family. Goodbye my dear, your mum, Esme Cullen.

Bella smiled down at the letter in her hands, though she had Katherine, Esme would always be a mother to her, she was happy that Esme predicted her to be a great mother because that is what she wanted more than anything and if Esme said it, it'd likely be true. She'd miss Esme greatly and would hopefully have her at her wedding.

Bella placed Esme and Carlisle's letters in a pile beside her, dropping the envelopes in the bin behind her, she wasn't sure how many more she'd be able to read before submitting to tears so she vowed to continue the next day, it was becoming night anyway.

"What's wrong love?" Klaus asked her gently, cupping her cheek, he could tell something was the matter by the shimmer that was in her eyes indicating she was close to tears. She handed Klaus the two opened letters and he quickly read them. As Nik read those letters he couldn't help but feel slightly guilty, was he the cause of her family leaving her again? She climbed onto his lap and he stood, carrying her to the bed and laying her down, sliding in beside her and holding her tightly.

"Everything shall be okay my love, you will see them again soon, they shall be guests at our wedding if you wish" he knew by the way her eyes lit up that she wanted that and he chuckled, kissing her soft lips and laying her down into the pillows, her eyes closing as she drifted.
