Phone Day

I had to give Qing's business phone back to him. Zhu Gege called and was surprised when he heard my voice.

Wang Zhu: Why do you have Qing's phone number two?

Me: I confiscated it.

Wang Zhu: Why? What did he do this time?

I told Zhu Gege about what Qing did. The unanswered calls, how he came home late without notifying me and how Qing drove with one and half bottle of beer on his system.

Wang Zhu: I see. Yes, you have the right to be angry...

Me: And to confiscate his phones because that's on our rule book about phone etiquette.

Wang Zhu: I understand. I do. But I need you to give Qing's phone number two back to him. We will meet some investors next week and I need us to coordinate properly for that meeting.

Me: But our rule says I could hold his phones for two weeks. Including his business phone.

Wang Zhu: I know. I understand you have rules in your relationship and I respect them but Dayu ah, I really really need you to give Qing's business phone back to him. Can't you do that?

Me: But it is part of his punishment.

Wang Zhu: (sighing tiredly) You two...can't you be a little lenient this time? Give the phone back to Qing and I will lecture him more for you. How's that?

Me: I lectured him just fine.

Wang Zhu: Oh you did? That's good. Now give his phone back.

Me: (pouting tone) What if I don't want to...?

Zhu Gege told me what he will do if I won't give Qing's business phone back to my fiancé. To make the story short, Qing has his business phone back now.

Oh...people, never let anyone learn your weaknesses. Even if they are family members of the person you will one day marry. They will use them against you.

Nevermind that. After that phone call to Zhu Gege, I called Pau because I noticed something during my conversation with Qing's cousin.

Me: (to Pau) Zhu Gege sounded testy. Why?

Pau: He is scrambling to get some contracts done because I am about to take my online test and I will be done for this semester. I will have a one month vacation from studying before I need to gather new study materials for the next semester. I'm thinking of traveling for four days out of town.

Me: Where will you go?

Pau: I'm thinking somewhere close to a mountain. I want to relax surrounded by greenery and healthy food. The medicine for my kidney stone is no joke. I'm losing appetite just from taking it. It doesn't taste good and I think I'm having headaches as a side effect.

Me: (concerned) Then you should exchange it for some other brand if it has side effects.

Pau: Nah. This brand is fine. I tried the other brand and that one gave me diarrhea. I think I will stick with this brand.

Me: Yikes.

Pau: (chuckling) I'm fine now. But Zhu ah is scrambling to get some work done so he can come with me to my little vacation. That's why his schedule is hectic and his patience is shorter.

Me: Yeah...he got testy with me.

Pau: I hope he didn't shout at you. He did that to some poor clerk here in the office. I think he almost made the poor fellow cry. You know Wang Zhu...he is scary and intimidating if he wants to.
