Chapter 13: telling them the news

Inside the boat, Alya looks at her phone and sees Marinette's text and she turns her phone off too.

Alya: She should be coming.

Nino: Okay. *Soon, the doorbell rang. *

Marinette: Okay. Just tell them what's going on. Don't cry much. *Soon, Anarka opened the door. *

Anarka: Ahh, Marinette. The others are here to see you.

Marinette: Thank you, Anarka. *She starts to frown a little bit. *

Anarka: What's the matter?

Marinette: Something came up today.

Anarka: Aww. What happened?

Marinette: My Neinei died.

Anarka: Your... Neinei? What is that?

Marinette: Sorry. It's Chinese for Grandma.

Anarka: Aw, Marinette. I'm so sorry. My condolences to your family. Do you want to go home, and I'll tell them you left?

Marinette: No. Thank you anyway. I'll tell them.

Anarka: Okay. *Marinette walks by. * (Poor lassie.)

In the living room, Marinette walked in, Alya see her all sad.

Alya: Hey. *She saw Marinette upset. * Are you okay?

Marinette: No.

Kim: What's wrong?

Marinette: My grandma died.

Alya: What? *Everybody was shocked by that. *

Alix: Your Nonna?

Marinette: No. My Neinei on my mom's side. My mom said she took a nap... but she never woke up. *The other felt sad, Luka hugged her. *

Alix: What are you going to do?

Marinette: I'm leaving tomorrow. We're going to Shanghai for her funeral this Saturday.

Adrien: Can I say something?

Nino: Dude, no.

Adrien: But I just wanna say...

Nino: No, listen.

Marinette: It's okay. What?

Adrien: When my mother was away, I didn't have many friends to help me through. You do though.

Marinette: Thank you, Adrien.

Alix: I thought he was going to say Let it go. *Soon, her phone buzzed. It's from her dad. *

Marinette: I better get going. *She leaves the houseboat and a few people said bye to her, some felt bad for her. Adrien looked at a small box in his hand. *

Adrien: (Didn't get a chance to give her my belated birthday present to her.)

In Marinette's house, Marinette packs her stuff for one day. Soon, a knocking came.

Marinette: Come in! *Soon, Timmy opened the trap door, and he sees Marinette packing. *

Timmy: Hey.

Marinette: Hey. Are you okay?

Timmy: Ye-yeah. Just... sad that she's gone.

Marinette: I know. But it's gonna be okay.

Timmy: Mom's still crying.

Marinette: Isn't dad down there?

Timmy: He was. But he's at the bakery, he'll be back inside around 7.

Marinette: We better comfort mom. *They go downstairs, and they see their mom in the living room, looking at a picture of her mom. *

Sabine: Why did you have to go now? *She blows her nose and sniffle too. Marinette and Timmy head downstairs and they see her. They hug her, she looked around and she grinned and hug them too. * Thank you, guys. (I'm grateful to have some great kids in my life.)
