The TikTok Challenge

yes, i haven't downloaded this app but that doesn't stop me from watching compilations on youtube! this whole idea came from the video attached & i hope you enjoy!

It had been a challenge on TikTok for months now. Endless videos of girlfriends climbing into their boyfriend's laps while they were focused on playing a video game. The reactions were adorable and it was easy to see why it had become a popular trend.

The first time I saw one of the videos, the idea crossed my mind of doing it with Shawn. He would never turn down cuddles, always seizing any moment where he got to hold me close and nuzzle his head in the crook of my neck, so there was no worries of it doing terribly.

The only problem was the boy never played video games unless it was Fifa with the guys, instead usually writing lyrics or toying with one of his beloved guitars. So finding the perfect moment was harder than originally thought.

Until today.

Shawn had been holed up in his in-house studio most of the day, stringing melodies together on the piano, humming beautiful notes and trying to finish a song. When he got a strike of creative genius, I always let him be until he was done. His best work always came out of these moments and I certainly didn't mind hearing the music fill the house while he worked through the process.

Today though, I was having a very hard time staying away from him.

Every fiber of my being wanted to curl up with him for warm snuggles and sweet kisses. To run my fingers through his curls while giving him some extra loving. An unusual sense of sleepiness was settling over my body while I sipped at my steaming mug of tea, trying to figure out how to lure him out for a little nap or just hold him in his arms.

And then the idea struck me.

I'll just bring the love to him.

With a bright smile on my face, I grabbed my phone and tea and padded towards the studio. The door was open just slightly, giving me just enough space to peek into the room.

Shawn was sitting on the comfy love seat with his leather journal in hand as he tapped the page with a pencil. Occasionally, he would hum a few notes and then scribble down a line of words before a breathtaking smile of pure happiness blossomed on his face.

Everything about Shawn looked cozy since he was only wearing gray sweats with a hoodie and his curls were a wild mess atop his head. He was completely distracted and in his element which made the moment perfect for what I wanted to do.

Only a few clicks later, TikTok was open on my phone screen and I chose the song for the challenge before grinning at the front camera.

Quietly, I walked into the studio and Shawn didn't notice a thing, too enveloped in his songwriting. I couldn't help but smile as I discreetly placed my mug down on the side table and leaned my phone against it.

"Maybe if I move this line here, it'll sound better." Shawn mumbled under his breath before he began writing his in journal again. Suppressing my giggles, I shot a glance at the curly headed man I loved so much before pressing the record button.

The red square signaling the video was being filmed popped up on screen and I couldn't help but smile. Still unaware of my presence, I carefully walked around the couch before facing Shawn. Gently placing one hand on his shoulder, I lifted one leg to push through his arms and swung my body over to comfortably straddle his lap.

"Baby, what're you-?" Shawn began to ask in confusion as a loving smile slowly blossomed across his lips, his cheeks becoming rosy with blush. Only giggling in response, I wrapped my arms over his broad shoulders and buried my head in the crook of his neck.

Just as I placed a sweet kiss to his warm skin, Shawn tucked the pencil into the journal before squeezing me tightly, his strong arms holding me close.

"Hi sweetheart!" Shawn exclaimed happily, his smile growing even wider. The moment just seemed to process in his mind as he tried to hold me impossibly closer. "Want some cuddles, hm?" He mumbled into my hair, pressing a kiss to my temple as he gently ran his hands up and down my back.

"Yeah," I answered simply, the warmth of Shawn's body enveloping me as a sense of home and adoration filled my heart.

"Didn't even hear you come in before. You surprised me." Shawn chuckled lightly, nuzzling his face in the crook of my neck before peppering kisses across my skin.

"That was the whole point, bub." I giggled, snuggling further into his chest and Shawn gently rested his head on top of mine. "And I wanted your genuine reaction for the TikTok challenge."

Shawn pulled back slightly, his brows furrowing in confusion. I couldn't help but laugh at the expression painted across his beautiful facial features.

"TikTok challenge? Like from that app you're trying to get me to use?" He questioned curiously while trying to figure out what I meant. Absentmindedly, he began running his fingers through my hair while waiting for my little laughs to stop so I could answer.

"There's this thing people have been doing with their boyfriends when they're gaming. Like their girlfriends just climbs into his lap and cuddles him. Buttt," I playfully explained, dragging out the word with a smirk. "Since you don't exactly game besides playing Fifa with the guys, I had to wait for the perfect moment for my opportunity. So when I found out you were in here writing, it was too perfect to pass up."

A warm laugh escaped Shawn's lips as a wild blush spread across his already rosy cheeks. Joy rushed through my veins at the adorable sound and seeing him this carefree always made my heart happy.

"So you're telling me, you didn't come in here for cuddles but to join in on some viral thing on the internet?" Shawn giggled, the corners of his eyes crinkling with his boyish grin while delicately leaning his forehead against mine. I nodded in response before nudging my nose against his and teasingly hitting his chest.

"Shut up. It's really cute, okay? And I always want your cuddles, TikTok challenge involved or not." I mumbled softly, leaning forward to kiss him. "Is it okay if I nap here or am I in the way of your writing?"

Shawn shook his head, a few messy curls falling over his forehead and his gorgeous hazel eyes were full of nothing but love.

"Stay right where you are. I just wanna hold you tight and I needed some extra inspiration anyway." Shawn said while pressing a long kiss to my temple. I rested my head on his shoulder and let the warmth and love of the moment pull me into a peaceful nap in Shawn's strong embrace.

hiii! i'm SO sorry i've disappeared for a little bit, school was actually kicking my butt so it was almost impossible to write, let alone post. but i'm back & i have a BUNCH of updates on the way! thank you for being so patient & for all the love and support like always!
