Waterfall Of Love

"Hello cutie pie! Ready to go on out with Mommy and Daddy today?" My voice floated over the low lullabies that were filling the nursery. "Yeah? Mhm, we're gonna have so much fun!" I cooed happily as William babbled excitedly when I carefully lifted him out of the crib. A wide smile bloomed on my lips as the one year old's face lit up when his bright eyes met mine. "Let's go get Daddy hm?"

William continued to babble loudly at the mention of his father and a light giggle slipped out from my lips as I positioned him against my hip and left the nursery. "Where is he William?" I wondered out loud as I pushed our bedroom door open and the bed was empty when just moments ago, Shawn had been sleeping peacefully before I had gotten up.

Then, I heard the sound of running water from the bathroom and playfully, I booped William's nose. "Think we found him," I whispered against his chubby little cheek which made him laugh before clutching onto me again as I walked into the bathroom connected to Shawn and I's bedroom. Before I could even say a word, Shawn's beautiful hazel eyes caught my reflection in the mirror and instantly, the biggest grin stretched across his pink lips.

"Bubba!" Shawn exclaimed cheerfully before peppering William's face with hundreds of gentle kisses. "How's my little boy this morning?" he asked and in response, William just pressed his little hands on Shawn's rosy cheeks and puckered his lips in an attempt to kiss Shawn. "Ohmygod, you are actually the cutest." Shawn gushed fondly before kissing William's cheek and gently wrapping his large hands around the baby to take him from my arms.

"Goodmorning sweetheart," Shawn said quietly, each word covered in nothing but love and I felt my heart skip. After all this time together, I never got used to mornings with Shawn. His raspy morning voice that sent shivers down my spine and made my heart melt, how his adorable curls were always messily tousled from sleep, seeing his bright eyes first thing in the morning, cuddling into his chest when it was a little too chilly. Everything about it was perfect and no matter how many days pass where I wake up next to him, I can never believe that this is really my life.

"Goodmorning baby," I smiled softly, running my fingers through his curls before leaning in to kiss him lovingly. "Ready for today?" Shawn nodded enthusiastically, lightly bouncing William on his hip.

"Of course." Shawn's cheeks burned with a deep pink blush which I couldn't help but giggle at. "Happy anniversary honey. Can't believe we've been married for a year already." He smiled cheekily before connecting our lips in a passionate kiss filled with pure adoration.

"Happy anniversary love," I mumbled quietly against Shawn's lips as the warm, familiar feeling of love spread from my heart throughout my whole body.

"I'm gonna go feed this cutie and get him all dressed so you can get ready," Shawn gestured to our son who was still babbling along happily in his father's arms. I raised my eyebrows skeptically at him and Shawn rolled his eyes playfully. "I've got it babe! Don't worry, I promise we'll be okay." He chuckled heartily and I fell in love with the sweet sound all over again.

"Whatever you say Mendes. I'll believe it when I see it," I teased and then kissed William's cheek and Shawn's before turning on my heel to leave the room.

A couple of hours later, everyone was dressed and ready to go as Shawn strapped William into his car seat while I buckled myself in. Shawn slid into the driver's side and started the car, his hazel eyes twinkling with adventure as music softly filled the car and he eased onto the street.

With my hand in his over the center console, we talked about random things to pass the time and every once in awhile Shawn would gently sing a song out loud for William. Before I knew it, the well known road was winding in front of us and the long boardwalk trail was stretched out ahead, leading towards a beautiful surprise.
