I have a two and a half year old daughter with the singer and songwriter, Shawn Mendes and her name is Rose Lucille Mendes. I had just finished feeding her some lunch when my phone rang. It was Shawn's manager, Andrew. I immediately picked up.
"Hey Andrew." I said.
"Hey Y/n. Um, Shawn is really frustrated and stressed out right now. He feels like he can't get anything right. Would you mind coming down here please?" Andrew asked. I looked over at Rose.
"Um, would it be okay if I brought Rose? I think that seeing her would cheer him up even more." I asked and said. Andrew did not hesitate at all.
"That would be great!" Andrew said.
"Okay, we'll see you guys in a little bit." I said.
"Okay, thank you so much for this." Andrew said.
"No problem. I'll see you in a little bit." I said.
"Okay. Bye." Andrew said, and we hung up.
"Rosie girl do you want to see Daddy?" I asked. She's a really big Daddy's girl.
"Yeah!" She said as she cheered. I laughed and helped her to get her shoes on.
"Come on, let's go." I said as I helped her out to the car and got her buckled in. I put on the radio, and when Shawn's song came in, Rose got really excited.
"This is Daddy's song!" She said. I laughed.
"It is." I said. She sang along and we soon arrived at the studio. Before we went in, I had to say something to Rose. "Okay, Rose, are you listening to me?"
"Yes Mumma." She said.
"We're going to surprise Daddy now. So, I don't want you to start talking until you're in front of him. We have to stay quiet or else it will ruin the surprise, okay?" I asked. She nodded and we went inside the studio. Shawn was sitting in a chair with his back to us. I could tell that he was frustrated just by the simple fact that his head was in his hands. Teddy smiled at us. I leaned down to Rose and pointed at her father. I then watched as she ran over to him and patted his knee to get his attention.
Shawn's point of view
I felt someone patting on my knee. My head had been in my hands, and when I looked up, I saw my daughter Rose smiling at me.
"Hi Daddy!" She said. I smiled at her and picked her up as I stood up.
"Hi Rosie! What are you doing here?" I asked. I then felt a hand on my shoulder and looked over to see my beautiful, gorgeous, and stunning wife, Y/n Mendes. My smile widened.
"I got a call from Andrew saying that you were feeling really stressed out and frustrated, so Rose and I decided to surprise you." Y/n said with a smile.
"Oh my gosh, thank you guys so much. I have my two loves with me." I said, causing Y/n to giggle, which made my heart flutter. I then looked over at my daughter.
"Daddy can we play?" She asked.
"What do you want to play sweet pea?" I asked as I sat down and put her on my lap. Y/n sat on a couch nearby. Rose thought for a moment.
"Let's play hide and seek!" Rose said. I nodded.
"Okay. I'll count to ten, and you hide, okay?" I asked.
"Okay." She sad as nodded and I closed my eyes and began counting. When I was done counting, I opened my eyes, and started looking around for her.
"Where's Rosie? Is she over here? No. Hm. Is she in the recording booth?" I wondered.
"No." Rose said, causing everyone to laugh. I walked into the booth and she was sitting on the floor. "You found me Daddy!"
"Yes, I did, and do you want to know how I found you?" I asked as I picked her up and held her on my hip. She nodded.
"How." She asked.
"Because you talked. You're not supposed to do that during hide and seek sweet pea." I said with a laugh.
"Oh. Ooops." Rose said. I smiled at her, my pride and joy.
"It's okay." I said as we walked out of the booth. Y/n was smiling at us. Y/n, Rose and I then sat on the floor and played.
"Babe, do you remember pat-a-cake?" Y/n asked. I nodded.
"Oh my God yes. Do you remember how to do it?" I asked as we remember a thing that we both must have done when we were little. Y/n nodded.
"Yeah. Want to do it now?" Y/n asked. I nodded.
"Yes!" I said. Y/n laughed her angelic laugh. We then started playing as we sang it.

"What was that?" Rose asked.
"That was pat-a-cake. It's a thing that your Mommy and I used to do when we were little." I said.
"Did you guys play it together?" Rose asked. I shook my head and then pulled Y/n into my lap as she squealed.
"No. Mommy and I didn't meet until we were much older." I said.
"How did you and Mommy meet?" Rose asked. I smiled at my amazing wife, who was already smiling at me as she put her arms around my shoulders and I kept my arms around her waist.
"Well, one day I walked into a Dunkin Donuts shop, and your Mommy was at the front of the line. When she turned around and I saw her, I fell in love right away. It was love at first sight. She asked for a picture with me since she was - and still is of course - a big fan of mine, and then after I ordered my drink, which she suggested I get, we sat down and had our first date. Our next date was the next day and that was also the same day that we kissed for the first time." I said. Y/n leaned her head on the side of my head and I held her closer to me.
"When did you and Mommy get married?" Rose asked. My smile widened as I thought of my wedding day.
"We got married a bit over three years ago. That day was magical. And a year after we got married, Mommy got pregnant with you. Then, nine months later, you were born." I said. Rose nodded.
"Come here sweet pea." Y/n said as she leaned over to pick Rose up and put her on her lap.
"I love this. Having my daughter on my wife's lap and my wife on my lap." I said. Y/n smiled and then her phone dinged. She checked it and laughed but then smiled.
"Thank you Teddy." Y/n said. I gave both Teddy and Y/n confused looks.
"What are you thanking Teddy for?" I asked.
"Because she took pictures of us playing pat-a-cake and she just took a picture of Rose and I on your lap." Y/n said. I smiled as Y/n then showed me the pictures. Rose then yawned.
"Daddy I'm tired." She said.
"Do you want to go home with Mommy and I'll see you guys later?" I asked. Rose started to cry.
"But I miss you Daddy." Rose said. Y/n got off my lap and I stood up and held Rose in my arms.
"I know honey, and I've missed you too, but Daddy has to work." I said.
"No. Take the rest of the day off." Andrew said. I smiled.
"Really?" I asked. Andrew nodded.
"Yup." He said.
"Thank you." I said.
"Do you want me to move her car seat into your jeep so you can have her during the drive home?" Y/n asked as everyone else left. I smiled at my daughter, who had stopped crying, and nodded. We then locked up the studio, switched Rose's car seat from Y/n's car to my jeep, I buckled up Rose, and we left.
"Daddy?" Rose asked once we were on the road.
"Yes my sweet pea?" I asked.
"Can we get ice cream?" She asked.
"What's the magic word?" I asked.
"Please. Can we get ice cream please?" Rose said and asked. I smiled and nodded.
"Yup." I said.
"Yay!" Rose cheered, causing me to laugh. I went to an ice cream place that's just a couple of minutes away from mine and Y/n's house.
"What do you want to get Rose? Do you want vanilla?" I asked. She nodded as I held her on my hip.
"Yes please." She said. I smiled and we soon were at the front of the line. The girl behind the counter looked a little starstruck by me.
"Oh my gosh Shawn, hi, I love you." The fan said. I smiled.
"Hi, I love you too." I said.
"Um, what can I get you guys?" She asked.
"Could I get a chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, vanilla ice cream, and I think Y/n would want the watermelon sherbert." I said. The girl nodded.
"Got it. Do you want it in a cup or a cone?" She asked.
"Um, we're going to be in a car, so a cup please." I said. The girl nodded, and we got our ice cream, paid, and left. I soon got a call from Y/n. "Hey babe."
"Where are you guys? I've been sitting outside for ten minutes waiting." Y/n asked and said. Crap. I forgot to tell her that we got ice cream.
"Well Rose and I stopped and got something so we have a surprise for you. We're pulling onto the street now." I said.
"Okay. I love you." She said, causing my heart to flutter as I smiled.
"I love you too." I said, and we hung up. Soon, we pulled up to the house and I got Rose out of the jeep.
"So what's my surprise?" Y/n asked. She's always so curious about things and I love it. I chuckled as I handed her the bag.
"Here you go. The vanilla is for Rose, the chocolate chip cookie dough is for me, and I got you watermelon sherbert." I said with a smile. Y/n looked in the bag and then smiled at me.
"Thank you honey. You're so good to me." She said. I kissed her cheek and held Rose's hand as we walked inside our house. We all sat down for dinner and then had our ice cream. Soon, Y/n and I put Rose to bed, and then we went into our own bedroom. Y/n snuggled up to me and then smiled at me.
"Thank you for surprising me today. I needed it." I said. Y/n's smile widened.
"You're welcome honey. Um, can I actually talk to you about something?" She asked.
"Of course." I said as I sat up and turned on the light. My wife sat up too. She took both of my hands in hers and I squeezed her hands gently, encouraging her to talk.
"I want another baby." She finally blurted out while she looked me in the eyes. My eyes widened.
"You want another baby?" I asked. She nodded.
"Yeah. I just feel like Rose is getting older and we always said that we wanted each of our kids to be about two years apart. What do you think?" She asked and I could tell that she was nervous. I finally smiled.
"Let's have Rose stay at your mom's house this weekend, and we'll try and make a baby." I said. Y/n smiled a really big smile at me and hugged me.
"Oh I'm so happy Shawn." Y/n said. I rubbed her back.
"Me too babe. I love having a little girl but I hope that we have a boy this time." I said. Y/n nodded and we went to sleep. Nine months later, Jacob Alexander Scott Mendes was born. I'm one lucky guy.
