You waited. It was hard to deal with the feeling that you were missing someone. You moved your hand over to a pillow and started to rub the fabric in between your fingers. You knew that if you were going to pick the pillow up and remember the smell of him that you were going cry. But you couldn't resist reminding yourself of who he was. You slowly picked up the pillow and pressed it against your chest.

The smell of Shiro, your older brother, suddenly flooded your senses. Memories of you having such fun times on Earth and with the Paladins pained you. You remembered hearing Shiro's voice encouraging you, giving you private lessons on combat and laughing. Suddenly you felt a pair of arms wrapping around your shoulders. You gasped, thinking it was Shiro, but realised that it was just your imagination. You began to cry uncontrollably.

"(y/n)," Shiro said. You looked up at your brother with a solemn expression. He brought you closer and gave you one last hug. "I'm going to come back" He promised.

"Shut up Shiro!" You screamed. You tore the pillow away from your embrace and stood up from the bed. The covers were all wrinkled after your frequent visits; this room was going to smell like you soon. Your heart began to hurt physically. You lifted your hand to your chest and walked out the room, closing the door shut.

While you walked out of Shiro's room, two people: Kolivan and Keith, watched you leave Shiro's room. They exchanged concerned looks to each other. Keith was the first to sigh.

"Has she talked to you yet?" Keith asked Kolivan. Kolivan's eyes sunk.

"No, she hasn't" He answered. Keith's eyes widened in concern.

"We have to get her to talk about it sooner or later," Keith said. Kolivan looked down at the new leader of the Paladins.

"I understand that communication is a key element to any relationship," Kolivan said, "But you should understand that losing someone, especially a family member, creates great damage to anyone. You need to allow her time to heal."

"I respect what you're saying, but there is a possibility that she can get depressed if we leave her alone for too long. She needs people around her otherwise we'll have the Galra and a depressed soldier to deal with" Keith said. Kolivan gave Keith a harsh glance for referring you as a depressed soldier but eased his aggressiveness.

"I understand" He replied.

...

As you wandered the hallways Lance accidentally bumped into you. "Whoa, sorry about that (y/n)" Lance apologised. You nodded in reply. "(y/n), are you okay?" Lance asked. You looked at him in the eye and answered.

"Yeah." You kept walking until you reached the training deck. You looked in and imagined all the memories you had with Shiro. He taught you so much. Those things... They had helped you save your life more than once and you owed it all to your big brother... Why did he have to leave? You crossed your arms and leant against the doorway.

"(y/n)," You turned around and saw Keith walking up toward you.

"Yeah?" You answered. Keith leant back in the frame of the training deck's doors.

"How are you holding up?" Keith asked. You frowned.

"I still can't believe he left" You answered. Keith nodded.

"I understand," Keith replied. He gave you one look to check where you were. "(y/n), I know it's been only two weeks, but I need you to snap out of it" Keith said. Something snapped when you heard him say that. "Are you able to do that?" Keith asked. You dug your nails into your arms. You had an urge to snap at him for that. Did he not understand that you had lost your brother for possibly forever? Your parents were already dead and now your only family member that you had easy contact with was gone. "(y/n)?" Keith asked.
