Matt x reader - Inseparable

You and Matt sat on the couch outside on the back porch while the rest were inside the house party. You were never one for wild parties and neither was he. You looked up at the sky and almost hated it for taking Matt away, but you knew that Matt wanted to go and respected his wishes. You leant on his chest, asking him to hold you. Matt was more than willing. The whole night, he was more than excited to be on the Kerberos mission, but he also felt guilty of leaving you behind. He cradled you in his arms and kissed you on your forehead, lingering there.

"How long are you going to be there?" You whispered.

"It looks like it's going to be up to half a year" Matt answered. Your heart stung when he said that. Half a year... In space... One simple mistake and everything could go wrong, he could die. Tears started to stream into your eyes. You leant into his chest as the tears bled into his shirt. He noticed this and lifted you to look you in the eye. "Hey," Matt said. When he saw you crying, tears started to form into his own eyes. "I'm sorry" Matt apologized.

You laughed off anything that was hindering you from sounding confident. "No, it's all right," You said. Matt shook his head and wrapped his hand around your neck to bring you in. He kissed you gingerly, slowly. You two slowly sank back into the couch with him on top of you. He finally pulled back and looked at you with a smile.

"I'm going to be all right. When I come back, I promise I'll make those six months up to you" Matt said. You smiled at his promise and nodded.

"Okay," you whispered. Matt smiled wider and kissed you on the forehead. Your tears were still hanging off the edge. Matt softly brushed them aside and cupped the side of your face, rubbing your face with his thumb.

"I'm coming back, I promise," Matt said.

"Okay, Matt" You replied. Matt shuffled over next to you and lay on the couch, wrapping his arm around your shoulder and under your neck.

"I love you (y/n)" Matt whispered. You nustled into his chest and kissed him on the cheek.

I love you too Matt" You replied.

"There has been a report in the news. The three crew members of the Kerberos mission have been reported missing after not responding for the past twenty-four hours. They have been presumed dead..."

Your body froze. It felt like something froze over you until everything, including your heart, was turned into ice. Your vision became blurry when your tears shielded your eyes.

"No! Matt!" You screamed. You fell on your knees and started to cry uncontrollably. Your breathing became uneven, your eyes were always blurry and your body became weaker with every detail of the failure of the Kerberos mission.

"There were no signs of the three brave men that were on the Kerberos mission. The ship was found torn to pieces. The Galaxy Garrison believe that an explosion may have caused the men to die. The worst case scenarios are that a fault in the craft may have led to a hole breaking in the ship's haul causing them to suffocate and then eventually lead to their... Deaths. There has been more speculation-" "STOP!" You clawed for the remote and forced the power button to shut the TV off. Your hand jerked to your heart.

"MATT!" You screamed. "You said you were going to come back," You said. "You said that you were going to come back alive. WHY DID YOU PROMISE ME SOMETHING THAT YOU KNEW YOU COULDN'T KEEP?" You wept for hours until all you could remember was you weeping over Matt's death until sleep caught you as You fell back into a slumber.
