Falling Down

When the other two finally got back, I still wasn't quite settled.

So I barely covered up the squeak of surprise when the door swung open. Thankfully, they didn't notice me curled in the corner, wrapped in blankets.

"You did the right thing, letting the Avatar's bison go free," Iroh said, turning to close the door.

Zuko doesn't look so hot.

Geez, now is not the time for puns.

"I don't feel right," Zuko said feebly as I jumped out from under my blanket nest.

"Zuko!" I yelled as he swayed.

I barely managed to catch him, falling over as I tried to keep him from hitting his head. A vase fell during our fall, shattering on the ground.

Did I mention Zuko is heavy?

"Zuko!" Iroh hurried over.

I cradled his head in my lap, worried as I pressed a hand to his forehead.

"He's burning up," I said. "We need to break his fever."

Iroh lifted the unconscious prince and carried him to his bed while I hurried to find clean rags and water.

"Dang it!" I muttered. "It's too hot."

I quickly cooled it with my waterbending and hurried to Zuko's side.

I don't care about confusing feelings or whatever right now. Zuko needs me.

I'll be here for as long as he needs me.
