Tea and bread... the staple foods

It was late when I finally emerged from my room and cleaned up the apartment. It looked like Zuko and Iroh would be working late, judging by the fact that it was quite dark outside, and neither of them were home yet. I made something from the few ingredients we had and let it simmer for a bit. When it was done, I covered the pot and put out the heat. Again, whenever they got home, they could reheat it.

My stomach grumbled, reminding me I had hardly eaten lately, and I took one of the now stale rolls of bread and ate some of it, nibbling on an end while staring up at the moon outside the window, just peeking over the tops of the buildings all around. I heated some water and then made myself a pot of tea to wash down the dry bread.

When I did that, I cleaned up again. Look at me go. I saw the flowers that Iroh had bought on the first day, looking droopy and changed the water.

"That should help you," I said softly, smiling at the flowers.

I yawned and stretched, feeling tired again.

"What the heck," I muttered as I made my way back to the cot. "I just slept all day. Why am I still tired?"

I was sleeping within seconds.
