"(y/n), you have proven valiant, brave and strong in the face of danger. I reward you and promote you to the rank of Colonel. Congratulations." Those words stuck itself in your mind as your ruffled around files. Files that weren't yours. Your hands and eyes searched desperately for anything that had the name 'Cerberus.'
Suddenly, your phone rang. You held your tongue, trying not to curse and turned the volume down before switching it to night mode. You stopped, freezing, waiting and listening for any sounds or signs of someone coming to investigate a phone ringing in the General's office at 2am in the morning.
You waited and waited, but only the comforting silence lingered around your ears. You exhaled and went back to work. All the hard copy files had no information. You let out an exasperated sigh knowing that there was only one more thing left to check, the computers. You were no techno genius and there was no way you would be able to hack into the mainframe without being caught. You already knew how to ease past all the firewalls and defence systems because you knew all the passwords.
You shook your head and scowled at your failure. Tonight, well, this morning, you were left with nothing, but the sad look of failure and a grouchy attitude thanks to your lack of sleep. Three more coffees better be made soon. You slowly crept to the door, barely being able to decipher the strange shadows that sounds that looked like a man in the hallway.
You stared closely at the figure. "Shiro?" You croaked.
"(y/n), what are you doing here?! Do you know you could be court marshalled for this?!" A familiar voice scolded. You groaned as your eyes began to droop heavily. "Oh gosh, you're sleepwalking again!" Lance groaned, draping your arm over his shoulder.
"Hey what's going on here?" A rough voice demanded. Heavy footsteps thumped down the hallway towards you and Lance. A sharp light of some kind shone towards your face. You were shocked at the sudden light, but your drowsiness drowned all emotion from your brain.
"It's just us sir. I found my older sister sleepwalking again" Lance explained.
"I find that hard to believe. Colonel (y/n) has never done this before" The man grunted.
"(y/n) has been stressed lately and she usually sleep walks when something stresses her out. She's been acting weird actually as well. I've never seen her like this" Lance said.
"Hmm... Well, get back to your dorm cadet. I don't like the fact that you're out after lights out. I'll let you off with a warning. I'll take Colonel (y/n) back to her dorm, go get some reset" The man ordered.
"Yes sir" Lance replied, walking back to his dorm. You swayed back and forth, drifting in and out of consciousness.
"What?" You asked, bubbling your question past your lips.
"Try to close your eyes (y/n)" The man whispered. You didn't reply. Your eyes and ears were shut, oblivious of what was going on. You were asleep.
When you woke up, you wished you were still sleeping or dead. Lance was right, you were court marshalled for sneaking through confidential files. At court, you refused to answer why you were sneaking around. Generals and Commanders alike accused you of being some sort of spy and requested you to be taken out of the ranks.
Both jury and judge thought this to be true. You were stripped of your title, rank, privilages and access to the barracks. Little did you know, that another sailor was in the same boat as you. On your way out of court, another girl had walked in. Her face was ridden with anger. Her eyes flashed with some negative emotion.
"What'd she get accused for?" I asked.
The man who was escorting me grunted an answer, "Same as you. She was caught rummaging through computer files on the Cerberus mission. That's all she's been going throught for the past three weeks."
'She's seen the computer files?!' You thought. "What's her name?" I asked.
"Katie Holt" He answered.
'Katie Holt? Isn't that the daughter of Sam Holt who went missing during the Cerebus mission. And I think her brother was on that mission as well. I guess we're on the same boat Katie' You thought. After court, you were escourted to the barracks we you would hand in your belongings and leave.
You didn't have that much anyways. You handed in your uniform, badge and other ID's that would make your mission harder. The reason why you were searching through confidential files was because you and Shiro had a secret relationship. You two met during training. It was a simple crush at first, but when you two couldn't get enough of each other for two years, you knew something was different about Shiro.
Everything was going perfectly, you were even talking about whether to go further in your relatonship. But then Cerberus came into view and just like that, Shiro and his crew was gone. For six months you wept in secret. Nine months in you were almost given a physic discharge for your unfamiliar behavior. One year later, you had already gone through most of the files that had the label, 'Cerberus.'
Even with your rank gone, your mission was the same, find out what really hapened to Shiro and where he is. Even if he was dead, the thought of his possibly being alive while in space thretened the sanity in your mind. You weren't going to give up and now, it seemed you had a possible ally.
...
"Pidge Gunderson? Really?" You sighed, staring down at Katie.
"It's the first thing that popped into my mind! Besides, any name will go these days" Katie protested.
"Okay fine, just don't get caught" You warned.
"I've been caught only once" "Four times" You corrected. "That doesn't matter, what matters is that I've snuck in that many times after being found again and again" Katie argued.
"True," You groaned. You sat down on Katie's bed, doubting that this plan was going to work. "Okay, this might work, but if something goes wrong, I'm going to intervene" You said.
"(y/n), I'll be fine! You don't have to worry, I've already got a mum for that. Just be ready to recieve some info" Katie stared at you, checking if you were ready.
"Okay, let's got" You said, getting up from the bed, "I've got a speeder that we can use to get to the barracks. I'll stand by near town and keep my radio on. You can send me messages as well. I'll have my laptop with me so you can message me when you can't radio me."
"Sure, let's go"
...
Three months after Pidge was admitted into the garrison, you were waiting outside the barracks. Town was treating you well. Tonight, you decided to camp out. Risky, but worth the consequences. Pidge was outisde on the rooftop again listening to her satelite. Lately, the intersteller chatter had been foriegn. Some kind of alien kept repeating the word Voltron. You and Pidge had been trying to figure out what that word meant. It wasn't in adictionary and wasn't exactly a substance that suited that name.
You shook your head as you looked to the stars. Somewhere out there, Shiro was either in a spaceship, somehow still alive, or dead floating in space. All you wanted was to find him, to see his face again. Anything to give you a clear explanation and answer. Your uncertainty was certainly driving you mad.
Suddenly a large meteor fell from the sky. You gasped, wondering how close that astroid might land towards you. You ran a good distance away as it landed around ten clicks from where you were. You jumped onto your speeder knowing that military jumpies would be surrounding the object soon enough.
As you drove away from the crash sight, another vehicle caught your eye. It looked like a hover bike and it was coming this way. It wasn't anything that you've seen before. A large static erupted from your radio. As you reached for your radio a large explosion crawled across the horizon.
"(y/n), get to the pod now! Shiro is there!" Pidge screamed. You almost dropped your radio. Shiro was there? You swerved your bike around and sped towards the pod. From the distance you could see the vehicle that you saw earlier. A kid and three others walked into the makeshift lab that was quickly assembled.
You parked your speeder near the lab, but was surprised to see all four of them walking out with Shiro. "Shiro?" I gasped.
"(y/n), wake up! We need to get out of here!" Pidge screamed.
...
Everything was a blur from then on. You couldn't remember much. The frantic adreneline had sucked all rememberance from the event. All you could remember was that you were being chased by garrison troops, jumped off a cliff and followed a guy named Keith to his shack.
"Help me get him inside" A boy asked. His lean stature, but matured face led me to guess that he was in his late teens. His brown ruffled hair really explained his character. His friend, a bit chubby if you ask me, had tagged along. His name was Hunk. And the pilot that you had heard about before was Keith. You remember him, Lance and Hunk from Pidge's report, didn't think that you would meet them in person.
You quickly rushed over to Lance and helped him get Shiro inside. According to Pidge, he was knocked out because some idiot scientist thought it would be a good idea. You looked at Shiro. He looked so different. You could feel that he was stronger, but an obvious scar slice across his nose and white hair hung from the front of his head. What happened to him?
Keith led you and Lance over to a spare bedroom where he could rest until he woke up. You had left your gear near the garrison and it probably wans't a good idea to try get it back. You volunteered to sleep outisde while the others could sleep on the floor or couches. You were still shocked from finding Shiro after a full year of mourning and searching. All there was to do know was wait.
...
Morning came by though hours of toiling through sleep. You woke up leaning against the wall when the door opened. You cracked your eyes open and saw Shiro walking out. You flashed your eyes open and quickly got up. You were frozen with a frenzy of emotions.
Shiro was already out by ten metres when your feet suddenly rushed to him. "Shiro!" You cried out. Shiro swerved around and saw you coming. You leapt towards him, crashing into his chest. Shiro, a little surprised to see you here, stood still for a minute, but embraced you. "I missed you so much!" You cried, "I thought you were dead."
Shiro squeezed you tighter and rested his head against yours. "I'm here now. And I'm never going to leave you again" He whispered. Hearing his words again made you weak. This assurance that he was here brought you to your knees.
"I was so worried, I never stopped looking for you. You scared me so much. I was missing you all this time" You gasped, stilling in effect by your tears. Shiro set you down as you fell limp in his arms. He lifted your chin and raised your lips into his.
"I'm never going to let you go. I missed you so much (y/n). I love you" He whispered, kissing you again.
"Yay! Shiro is back for (y/n)!" I cheer behind the screen.
"WWWHHHHAAATTT!?!?!? Shiro had a girlfriend the entire time?!??! Is that who she is??!?!" Lance screamed. The shack shook as Pidge, Hunk and Keith barged out the door to see you and Shiro kissing.
"Okay, I'm going back inside" Keith said abrubtly, walking back inside and closing the door shut.
"Someone doesn't like kissing" Pidge sniggered.
"Aw they're so cute together! And the sun is rising as they are kissing!" Hunk exclaimed, sparkling his cute shipping eyes, "This is so good!"
"They've been dating for two years, three if you count the time when Shiro was gone" Pidge explained.
"Someone should have told me that, catch me" Lance said in a high pitch voice, falling back fainting.
