Two Years:
(Again, just a reminder of how this works... two years means two years since the fast forward first started. Therefore, it's 1 year since the previous chapter. If that doesn't make sense tweet, message, dm me or leave a comment and i'll try and explain it better haha!).
Sophie & Aaron:
A year had passed since Sophie had experienced her third miscarriage and she had been through so much hurt that at some points it seemed unbearable. However, she never let herself view it as a negative thing because she had finally given herself the chance to fully grieve the three babies she had lost.
Aaron had been there through it all and stayed up with her the nights she was unable to stop crying. He had been there for her when she was struggling to process how and why it had happened to her and he had made sure to provide her with the love and reassurance she needed throughout.
Not long after he had found out about the third miscarriage he had presented her with a bracelet that she knew she would treasure forever. It was a rose gold chain with three star charms hanging delicately off it and when she asked what they stood for; his answer had been each of the babies she had never gotten to meet.
That gesture had been something that had caused her love to grow for him even more. It was in that moment that she realised just how much he did love, appreciate and understand her and she knew she could never let him go.
Even though he hadn't been with her through the first two miscarriages and he hadn't been aware that the third pregnancy existed until after the miscarriage, he still cared enough to show recognition that they did exist. He didn't want her to push them out of her mind and forget they happened, he wanted them to be acknowledged and he knew that was the best way she could get though it.
Since that moment, the couple had continued to grow stronger and their relationship was something they both had been craving for. Their living situation was still the same, with Aaron having an apartment in Brighton while Sophie had one in London but they made that extra effort to ensure they spent more time than just the weekends together.
They didn't overdo it. They didn't consume all of their time with one another because that was always a sad way to experience a love story. They instead created time for their friends and family alongside getting to enjoy one another's company and appreciating it when it happened.
Juliet & Dylan:
After a year of celebrating their new daughter's milestones and bringing her up into the world and making her a strong part of the family, Juliet and Dylan felt content in the family life they had created for themselves.
They were living in the same apartment and even though it was beginning to get a little more cramped, it didn't bother them because it was cosy.
Their family of five with their two boys and one little girl finally felt complete and was made even stronger the moment Dylan had gotten down on one knee.
It had been completely unexpected because to begin with Juliet hadn't been dressed up like they made engagements appear in the movies. Instead she had been in her pj's, struggling to wake up before breakfast had been brought to her in bed.
After a long night up with Grace she was feeling exhausted but all tiredness had been lost from her the moment Dylan had proposed.
She had thought things were going perfect enough for her however, she realised she hadn't quite reached her peak until now and couldn't fight back the pure joy over finally having that ring on her finger.
In terms of her relationship with her biological father Mike and also Abbie, that she now knew as her sister, they had remained simple. She didn't want to get too close to Mike due to the way he had acted when she was just a little girl but she also didn't have the energy or mind set to hold grudges. Therefore, if he ever called or text to see how she was, she didn't ignore it, she just didn't put her whole heart and soul into the conversation.
As for Abbie, they had been working on building a friendship before Juliet even thought of truly classing her as a sister. The news she had found out had been difficult enough to process so she was taking things slow and granted Abbie her wish but without jumping in too fast.
Jess and Jack:
That morning Jess woke up and lay in bed staring at the ceiling for over an hour while she ran those particular thoughts through her mind over and over again. She knew the drill but was trying to logically think it all through before she jumped to any conclusions.
However, she knew herself in this situation well enough. So she had jumped straight out of bed once she had reached her conclusion and headed for the shop before anyone else woke up.
When she returned back home and took a few minutes away in the bathroom, her shock, even though she should not have been feeling any, had caused her to charge back into the bedroom and onto Jack.
"Jack!" She had mumbled over and over again, trying to shake him awake. "Wake up!"
After many attempts, Jack finally opened his eyes but only barely; peering at her with the only bit of sunlight he had allowed to reach his eyes.
"What?" He groaned with his voice quiet and breaking.
"You're not going to believe this." She laughed, genuinely humoured by what she was seeing.
"Believe what?" He asked, with his arm now covering his eyes to prevent himself from being blinded.
"Look." She insisted, trying to pull his arm away.
In that moment, Jack's tired state meant he had no effort to do it himself. Therefore, when Jess picked up on that she pulled his arm away herself and held the device right up in front of his eyes.
"I'm pregnant."
Jess' words were enough to cause a new sudden awake in Jack as he suddenly sat up, her body falling back slightly as he did. Wrapping his arms around her back to prevent her fall, he looked at her in confusion.
"What?"
Holding out the test towards him again, it was there and unarguable, Jess was in fact pregnant.
"No fucking way." He began to laugh, causing Jess to yet again break into laughter. "This is crazy. No way is it happening again."
Biting down on her lip Jess was grinning from ear to ear and Jack resembled her reaction.
They were both in shock at how things had planned out for them especially as they had said that after Addison they would be having no more. It hadn't been in their plans but it had happened and it was humorous to them at how easy and unexpected it had been.
They should have been sat here freaking out to the max. They had four children and that was already manic enough, they were not sure how they could possibly cope with another.
Even though that was the case they also both knew that neither of them were actually freaking out at all. Neither or them felt even a tiny ounce of fear or reluctance at the thought of having another child because they were always too excited at the idea to feel anything but happiness.
"How are we going to handle this, Jack? Five is a lot. We should have been more careful." Jess' tone suddenly got more serious but Jack could read right through it and knew she truly wasn't all that worried.
"We'll make it work, we always do." He raised his brows in a teasing manner before enveloping her into a hug.
Pulling her down onto him, Jess began to laugh as he playfully tickled her sides before rolling them over so his body was hovering above hers.
"You genuinely could not have woken me up in a better way." He mumbled against her lips before closing the gap between them.
Although another baby had most definitely not been planned, it couldn't have happened in a better way. The fact that it was a surprise filled them both with this sense of joy to start the day ahead. Four children had been where they originally planned to stop but it seemed stupid to have a limit when bringing up children was their favourite thing in life. Therefore, this surprise pregnancy was a blessing and one that they were going to enjoy every second of because they knew that with each child, their love for another grew even stronger... if that was even possible at this point.
