Alec was named after his aunt and his father's best friend Lexi.

Caroline tried her hardest with her son who was too much like his dad in some ways.

Alec had Stefan's compassion, kindness, and innocence. Alec also worshipped his sisters always putting them first before anyone else.

Alec had a way about him that pulled others into him just like his fathers.

So when Hope Mikaelson comes to the Salvatore Boarding School it was no surprise that Alec befriends the girl.

The two became best friends.

But as they got older and the feud between Hope and Lizzie and Josie began Alec had to pick a side.

And just like his father Alec put family before anything else.

And just like Stefan, it would be Alec's downfall.
