Everything was kind of calm for the next few hours. Eddy did have the blueberry muffin and they ended up just chatting about everything and nothing. About the Norway trip, about the ring, about their channel and about the wedding. Talking was nice, and as both of them should have learned by now, nice things doesn't last.

"Time to go, Brett", the nurse said with a smile, and the two boys looked at each other. Visits to the psychiatric ward were only on Wednesdays and Sundays and special occasions like birthdays. Today was Monday. Luckily, phones were allowed, with limitations if you were caught trying to sneak out or it was used in a way they found inappropriate.

"Call me when you're settled, okay?" Eddy said, holding Brett's hand between his. The cool metal of the ring touched the top of Brett's hand, and he couldn't help but smile just a little.
"I will. Take care of yourself while I'm away, please?" Brett replied as he stood up to get some shoes on. He was still in the clothes provided for him from the hospital, but at least he got his own shoes. Eddy nodded weakly, and Brett turned to him.

"Please", he repeated. "You're important to me, and I can't take care of you now. Please Eddy."
Eddy shifted uncomfortably.
"Just call me, please", he said quietly, eyes glued to the floor and moving his arms to hold himself. "I'll be fine."
"It's time to go, Brett. They're waiting for you", the nurse repeated, a bit firmer this time. "You'll meet again on Wednesday, and yoy can call later."
Brett nodded.
"Just one minute, please?" he said, and she nodded understandingly.
"Be quick. The ambulance has places to be too."

Brett stepped over to Eddy who looked like he was about to break and hugged him tightly.
"Please take care of my world for me, Eddy", he said with a tiny smile, and Eddy couldn't help but snort as tears ran down his cheeks.
"You're so cheesy", he said, hugging Brett back, smiling through the tears. "I'll do my best, okay? Take care of yourself, too."
Brett tiptoed up and pressed his lips against Eddy's gently, and Eddy responded by tangling his fingers into Brett's hair.

They pulled away and just looked at each other as if having a silent conversation. The nurse was the one to interrupt.
"I'm sorry, Brett, but you really have to go now."
Brett quickly kissed Eddy's cheek and followed the nurse to the door. He turned just outside the door, shot Eddy a brave smile, waved weakly and followed the nurse to the ambulance.

Eddy decided to walk home from the hospital, despite it being around an hour walk in the light rain with nothing but the hoodie he had grabbed on the way out when they went to the hospital. He was shivering, and he had trouble focusing his eyes because of how tired he was. Everything blurred as his eyes started running, simply from being so tired.

His feet felt like stone, but somehow he got to the house and let himself in. The house was quiet and the sound of his shoes hitting the shoe rack felt like it resonated forever. It felt almost wrong to be there without Brett.
Eddy dragged his feet to the bedroom and stared at the bed for a moment as if he didn't know what it was, but eventually the tiredness became too much. He passed out on the bed without doing anything about the soaked hoodie he was wearing.
