You/Maleficent - Running Away

Summary: She wants to kill you

The wounds in your body where quite deadly and without getting any medical attention, you'll die. Chances of you finding someone that would help you heal were practically slim to none. You weren't even sure where you were. You had been running for the past an hour and you had no real clue what direction you had taken. The only thing that you knew was that you were going to die in the forest. 

Maleficent had been doing her usual rounds of flying around the forest to make sure that no one needed her. She knew that nothing ever happened in these forests because of the way she ran things but she wasn't going to take any chances. The last time she had slipped up, bad things ended up happening. 

As she flew at a particular low spot, she ended up discovering you. It angered her that a human had crossed her forest and moved down to take care of you. She was ready to strike you to end your life but was unable to do so as you opened your eyes. Maleficent was a little surprised to see that you weren't scared as you took notice of her getting ready to kill you. It intrigued her because most humans would have already run by now. That's when she took notice of your wounds. To get a closer look at them, she kneeled down, noticing that they were quite deep and no medicine in the world would be able to bring you back. 

Using her magic, Maleficent was able to heal most of your wounds. Mainly the ones that were fatal due to them being far too big to heal on their own. Bruises and small cuts were left on their own as Maleficent knew that using too much magic on someone could end up killing them. The good thing was that you were no longer in danger of dying. 

While Maleficent was healing you, you couldn't help but look at her. She seemed like she had done through so much yet here she was. It made you want to hold her in your arms, no matter how threatening she looked. 

"You didn't have to save me you know."

"That's ridiculous. I'm not the king. I can tell when someone is here to harm the Moors and you weren't."

She leaned down to gently pick you up from the ground. 

"How did you even manage to get here? It's quite difficult getting here by foot."

"I'm not sure. One minute, I'm being attacked and chased by a bear and then the next, I wake up to you getting ready to kill me."

"Please forgive me for that. I had misjudged you.'

"It happens."

You mumbled, tiredly. 

Maleficent doesn't say anything else as she notices you fall asleep. She takes off to her cabin near the middle of the Moors, where she lays you down on her bed to let you rest. Now that you weren't in any danger of dying and you were finally asleep, Maleficent couldn't help but admire your features. There was no denying the fact that you were quite beautiful. What Maleficent was feeling just by looking at your resting body, was the same feeling she had felt so long ago. It was quite impossible as she casted a spell on herself to never fall in love with someone. She was only fooling herself into believing it would work. Maleficent should have known that love always won.

As your body healed, both you and Maleficent spent the majority of your time together. To everyone's surprise, Maleficent would walk with you. Telling you all kinds of stories about the Moors and introducing you to creatures that resided in the moors. Every new story or fact that Maleficent would tell you, you truly listened. Taking in every word that would come out of her mouth. 

The more you spent time with her, the more you realized that she wasn't like the urban legends that people would talk about. Yes, she might have tried to kill you at first but it was only because she was trying to defend the Moors. It was completely understandable to you as she was just protecting her home. 

Both you and Maleficent surprised each other. Maleficent didn't see you as the evil human that would often come by the Moors to steal, she saw you as someone kind and gentle that only wanted to help the world. You saw Maleficent's true side. Not the one she would show the world to keep them away from her home. It definitely broke your heart when you realized that Maleficent had to become this cruel person in order to keep everyone safe. It didn't matter though, you loved both of her sides. You loved how protective she could be and you loved how sometimes she wanted to be protected despite not telling you in words.

"I never did get to ask you why you were running in the forest all on your own?"

You hear Maleficent ask one day. Although, you had expected for her to ask, it had still caught you off guard. Thinking about what led to the events of that day made you upset. 

"I'm sorry. I didn't know it was a particular sore topic. You don't have to talk about it."

"Please. It's the least I could do. You've healed me, given me shelter, kept me company and so much more."

"(Y/n), truly. You do not have to talk about it because you think that you owe me something. You don't"

"I was running away from my family. They found out about certain preferences of mine and had threatened to kill me."

Your words angered Maleficent. She couldn't picture a loved one threatening to kill the person they loved because of something as small as falling in love with a person of the same gender. The human race was quite strange and she was glad that the Moors was much more accepting. 

"I'll never let them harm you, (y/n)"

She wrapped her arms around your body holding you close as you let out all the tears you had been holding back.

"You're safe with me."

Maleficent had been wanting to tell you how she felt about you for a while but after hearing what you said, she figured it was better to wait. There was no need to rush. The two of you had all the time in the world. Time in the Moors was much different than time in the kingdom.
