If Only

She fears maybe that she’s just like the rest,

amused solely by simple problems

and adolescent drama.

She can imagine how he'd think it weird

of her atypical admiration

for this theatrical and insightful character,

before he even knew her name.

Her ambition to be outstanding

provides somewhat of a roadblock

between her thoughts and busy pen.

She contemplates if it would be too much

to ask for his unmistakeably talented guidance

and approbation.

Every morning

this is what she wakes for,

looking forward to that one hour of her day.

It's difficult for ones mind to flourish

when in the simple-witted company of 'her own'.

Maybe it isn’t just the academic challenge she craves,

it is arduous in its own simply trying

to gain his attention.

If only he could turn an ear

to her abstrusely poised unspoken language

and clearly read the ineffable thoughts

written across the gleaming vigor in her eyes.
