Imagine yourself in a room filled with darkness and the only light, the only hope was from one small little flicker of warmth given from a candle as it was slowly melting away. What would you do once the light was gone would you let the darkness consume you or would you wait....Alone...And cold just for that warmth of light to return so you could feel it blanket over you so you knew you were safe? Quite obvious what I would choose but the path for light isn't always so easy. Cause once you escape the Dark and enter the light you will find that Darkness always fights back. Meet Jewel Noir and ya she can shine like her name or be dark as her last, this is what I guess you would say is "her story" but it's not just Jewel's. So I hope to meet you in her adventure of life in, "The Light of the Dark"

A song overcomes a woman as it sets her alter ego before her.

This work is a reflection of my thoughts. My biggest problem right now is derealization/depersonalization disorder. (DPDR) is mental disorder in which the person has persistent or recurrent feelings of depersonalization or derealization. It is described as feeling disconnected and detached from one's self. - As if your life is a movie and you are floating around in your own world, unattached and disconnected from your body and physical self. I first started experiencing DPDR when I was 11. It was such a foreign and confusing feeling. I felt as if my entire mentality had been invaded by something I was too young to comprehend. I expected it to be a temporary episode that would be gone before the next day. Well, 7 years later and it's still hitting pretty hard. I've done a lot of research and found that it stems from anxiety and stress. I feel the effects of DPDR 24/7. Not once has it completely subsided.. For years I've ignored it and acted like everything was alright because I knew people were getting tired of listening to me complain about it. I've been to multiple doctors but nothing has really helped. This is something I have accepted but will never welcome. I often feel consumed but writing is one of my escapes.

This is me. These are my thoughts. My feelings. My life. How I feel about it. And what I feel from it. And pain must be felt in one lifetime Because then we don't know what we had, Until we loose it. This isn't make believe, But someone's reality. They may feel like a broken soul And somehow still live in curiosity, Something's no one has ever thought of thinking. They make mistakes and pull you down, But they're build you up stronger with their full heart. And it just so happens to be mine.

Have you ever wanted to be seen? Seen for who you really are? The protagonist wants the same thing, but he is never seen in the way he needs to be. In the middle of New York City, he drifts through friendship, sex, pain, drugs, and love, searching for the right kind of attention and always missing it. He questions almost everything. He listens. He observes. But who listens to him? Trying to become the person he envies and escape the stereotypes placed on gay men, he finds himself haunted by them instead. (This isn't supposed to be something extravagant, just a fun little world I wanted to create, this is just a small story I decided to write because I was bored.)

Riley lost his girlfriend during his late college years. From then his whole changed, he stopped playing around. Once he hit a job, he bought a house in the middle of the city, filled with noise and less time for him to think about himself. He tried to live his life while trying to forget as everyone urged him to do. His friends forced him to go in a bar, and that's he realized he'll never love anyone else.

This is an on-going collection of poems that I feel have something in common. However, that common thread may be different for each reader. Enjoy!
