"Y'know, I looked into everything about you. Well, everything you told me about you."

He was given the chance to meet back up with the broker that he's been conversing with for the past few months. It's been so long since their last meeting, he was certain he'd been forgotten about.

"So far, everything's been squeaky clean," the broker adds. "Almost too clean."

They had decided to meet down a damp, dirty alley. It was dark, shielded from prying eyes by two towering buildings on either side.

"You're purposely looking for something dirty?" He decides to reply.

The broker plucks his cigarette from his teeth. "Well, you wouldn't be called a criminal without something dirty in your past."

"Who said I was a criminal?"

The broker narrows his eyes before taking another puff, blowing it out without a care in the world.

"Then why the hell are you interested in joining the League?" He wonders.

"I thought we went over this part already?" He rolls his eyes, keeping at the role, desperate to be included in seeking out the League's location. "I may have done some pretty bad things, but I've never been caught for them. Ergo, I'm not technically a criminal."

"Hmm." The broker seems unsure. "What exactly are you hiding? Everyone in the League has some kind of trauma looming over them. What makes you special then?"

"Trauma?" He scoffs, acting nonchalant. "Not everyone needs a traumatic experience to make them who they are."

"Well, we still haven't covered how the hell you look like some homeless guy off the side of the street."

"We haven't?" He frowns at the broker. "Surely that was one of the first things you asked me about?"

"Not that I recall." He fiddles with his cigarette between his fingers as it nears the end of its sad, pathetic life. "It's to do with your Quirk, huh?"

He nods his reply, slow and uncertain. "That's right."

"That hospital you went to wasn't at secretive as you thought," the broker adds, looking at his brown fingernails as if bored. "I see you gave a different name than you gave me. Was that also fake?"

He blinks uncertainly at the man before him. He's relaxed, unphased, even though he just outed him and his secret rendezvous to a hospital he thought was confidential enough that it would keep his state secret from prying eyes.

"Well, I gotta keep my identity hidden, y'know," he says coolly, his eyes darting around for a sign of an ambush.

"Why?" The broker looks at him now. "You just said you're not a criminal, so what have you got to hide?"

"I just-"

"You really wanna join the League of Villains, then you gotta be straight with me," he says, looking a lot more stern than his usual laid back self. "I get lying - you're a bad guy! It's what you do! But, the League are a pretty trusting group amongst themselves, so you gotta cut that part out of your life now."

All he can do is remark at his loyalty, his change in tone for the League of Villains.

"Look, I didn't decide to meet down this craphole for nothing, okay?" He sighs, brushing down his blazer. "Today's the day you meet the boss."
