Chapter 68 - Getting Her Ass Kicked

Start from the beginning

Kira forced herself to meet her opponents gaze and what she saw not only shocked her, but frightened her. It appears that he wasn't blinded. Kira opened her mouth to voice her appall, but wasn't even able to mutter a syllable before she felt herself being thrown the length of the training grounds.

The wall came at her with surprising speed, before her back collided, springing the wind out from her body. Her neck ached from the impact, her arms trembled from taking the extent of his attacks. All Kira could do was sit there, her head spinning as he finished off the rest of her classmates.

That's never happened before. Her opponents have never once avoided her blinding attack. But, Togata didn't avoid it. He was just... unaffected by it.

The sound of combat was muffled as her ears continued to ring a few seconds longer. It was hard to breathe. She could hear her classmates struggling to keep up with the Mirio Togata's movements. He's merciless against them. Ruthless and uncalculated. Kira and her classmates never even stood a chance, despite her smug, superior attitude earlier.

What felt like a good painful few hours, was merely minutes to the bystanders who watched idly by as the events unfolded. As Kira rubbed her aching stomach, fighting the urge to puke up her insides, she crawled to her injured classmates with one hand as they all slowly started to pull themselves together. They were a sorry sight, for sure.

"So, what did you guys think?" Togata beams at the crippled students. "That's just a taste of what its like to fight me."

Midoriya's one of the first to get to his feet properly. "We all just got punched in the stomach without ever knowing what was going on."

Mirio chuckles at the comment. "Right!? So, isn't my Quirk strong?"

That causes an uproar amongst a few of them.

"Yeah! Too strong!" Sero shouts.

"That's not fair!" Toru looks like she's waving her arms in outrage. "My Quirk's nothing compared to yours!"

"How can you slip through things and warp? Do you have two powers like Todoroki does!?" Mina practically screams her questions.

"Nope. Just the one."

"Ooh! I know - I'll tell you what his Quirk is!" Hado butts in. "Hey, hey. Can I say it? Permeation! Cool, right?"

"Hado," Tamaki sighs. "Let Mirio explain his own power."

"Yup, I got a sweet power that's called Permeation," Togata explains. "What you guys thought of a warp, was actually an alternative application of that power."

"So, how exactly do you warp?" Midoriya wonders, his nerdy side showing slightly.

"I activate my Quirk in my entire body. Then, I can pass through anything I want, no sweat! Everything! That includes solid ground."

Kira looks back at where Mirio's bundle of clothes used to be, then back to the third years. "So, what I thought was invisibility... was actually you falling through the ground?"

"That's right! I went deep underground," he continues, his hands on his hips. "And then whenever I release my Quirk when I'm falling, something super strange happens - I get repelled upwards! Think of it this way: the ground spits me out and I fly up into the air. That's how my warp works. By adjusting the direction I'm facing, I can change the angle I come out at, so I can aim at different spots."

"You're able to avoid any attacks and you can move where you want in an instant," Tsu awes at Togata and his power. "You were born with a really strong Quirk."

"Not true," Togata replies bluntly. "My power's only strong because I made it that way. While my Quirk is activated, my lungs can't take in any oxygen. Even if I breathe in, the air will just pass through. In the same way, my eardrums don't work. And light can't go through my retinas."
