Elena's POV
Jake: Fuck! - He shouted and threw the phone on the bed.
Elena: Still no one answer? - I sighed and touched his back.
Jake: No. Neither from Luka nor from Jasmine. Where the hell are they? We have a departure in an hour for God's sake! - He was walking nervously around the room - I know this dumbass is irresponsible, but Jasmine? She would pick up the phone. Something bad must have happened.
Elena: You need to calm down - I was sitting on the bed looking how nervously he is walking. He didn't even look at me - They are fine. Maybe they lost track of time? They are at the party, Jake.
Yes. We are waiting for them for 2 hours. We cannot contact them either, because none of them is answering the phone. Jake is furious and worried as hell. I've been trying to calm him down for two hours. An hour ago, we decided to pack our things to the car and walked into Jasmine and Luke's room. We packed all theirs things too and Jake took everything to the car. We have been sitting in their room for an hour and waiting for them.
Jake: How am I supposed to be calm? - He looked at me angrily - We don't know Jasmine's friends. Besides, we are not on the vacation here. We are taking care of Maria's case and we are probably in a danger too. Everyone is watching us, so is the kidnapper. What if he caught them too?
Elena: You are exaggerating - I sighed.
Jake: I'm exaggerating? - He took offense - You're too lenient with them - He pointed at me - You didn't even ask Jasmine about her friends. We have totally no informations about them.
Elena: Because I trust her - I looked angrily at him and crossed my arms on my chest - I know she wouldn't be friends with inappropriate people.
Jake: They're her friends from her collage. May I remind you about your antics in Harvard? - He was still furious.
Elena: That not fair! - I shouted at him and pointed at him - Besides, Jasmine is much calmer than me. She's just like you! Rigid, responsible, well-mannered, polite and distanced. She wouldn't do anything stupid - I looked at him and smiled sarcastically.
Jake: But, she is there with Luka, who is just like you! - He pointed at me - Reckless, irresponsible, with stupid and dangerous ideas!
Elena: Jasmine has her own brain and knows how to make decisions for herself - I crossed my arms again.
Jake: But Luka, just like you, has a gift for persuading others to his stupid ideas! You two were jumping from fucking attic in La Campana! Surely he convinced her into something and something bad happened. You know what? I am done. I'm going there - He grabbed the car's key.
Elena: Are you out of your mind? You will embarrass them in front of their friends!

I sighed and then, we heard some voices from the corridor. We looked at each other with Jake and he became even more furious. He turned off the light and stood in front of the door.
Elena: Danford - I face palmed myself and sighed - Have a mercy...
Jake: Don't even say a word.
Then, we saw the opening door. They were laughing so hard.
Luka: Shhh... - He silenced the laughing Jasmine. He was laughing too - Because they will hear us - He whispered.
When I heard that I immediately got mad too. They really thought they would sneak into the room without a word of explanation? No fucking way. I got up and crossed my arms on my chest too.
Jasmine: Okay, okay - She laughed - I'm sorry.
Then, they carefully opened the door. They were holding hands and laughing so hard. Then, Luka turned on the light. When they saw us they took a step back.
Luka: Crap - He whispered to Jasmine - They caught us - and he laughed again.
Jake: Are you two out of your mind?! Where the hell have you been? - He was standing in front of them with his arms crossed on his chest - We have a departure in an hour! Where do you have your phones? We've been trying to call you for two hours!
Jasmine: Daddy is furious, Luka - She looked at him and laughed.
Jake: And you Jasmine? I thought you were more responsible! We have business here and we are in danger. All of us! We don't know where the kidnapper is. He could do something to you for God's sake.
Luka: I wouldn't let him touch him my sunshine - He laughed.
Jasmine: Shhh! - She laughed and hit his shoulder.
Jake turned to me confused and with his narrowed eyes. I was confused too.
Elena: You are completely wasted! - I shouted - Are you sick or something? We're about to be on the plane in an hour!
Luka: Damn, mommy is furious to - He looked at Jasmine and laughed again - She won't help us this time.
Jake: Wait a minute - He looked at Luka and narrowed his eyes.
Jake got closer to him and sniffed him. Then, looked at Luka and his eyes were even more furious.
Jake: Luka fucking McKing! - He shouted furious - You're stoned!
Elena: What?! - I shouted.
Jake: Come here and check it by yourself - He looked at me and nodded at Luka. All the time he was laughing with Jasmine.
I got closer to him and sniffed him too. Then, I approached Jasmine and sniffed her too. I thought I would kill them.
Elena: She's stoned too! They also smoked cigarettes. Are you out of your mind?! - I looked at Jasmine.
Jake: Do you know what are the consequences of mixing alcohol, cigarettes and drugs? How old are you? 16?!

Jake: Don't change the subject - All the time he was looking at them.
Jasmine: Just don't tell them about our little pool adventure - She touched Luka's chest and they burst out laughing again.
Jake and I just looked at each other with our widen eyes. He looked at me questioningly, but I just nodded negatively.
Jake: It doesn't make any sense, Elena - He looked at me - Now, there's no contact with them. We have to grab them and put them on the plane. I hope staff won't see they are wasted and stoned. Otherwise they won't let us on board.
Elena: It's a night flight, so they won't check us that closely - I looked at him and sighed - We will give them covid's masks. It's worse with theirs eyes. Their eyes are bloodshot! - We looked at them and they were laughing so hard.
Jake: They will have to wear sunglasses, I don't care. They will be looking like idiots, not we.
Elena: Okay - I took a deep breath and looked at them - To the car, now! We will talk about it when you'll sober up.
Jake: Do you have everything? Phones, pockets? - He looked at them.
Luka: Of course, daddy. I'm responsible!

Elena: They are impossible! - I groaned angrily.

Jake: You are giving them too much space for antics from the very beginning! If they had more discipline, this wouldn't have happened.
Elena: If they had more discipline, I'd be bored to death!

Elena: Did you... - I slowly pointed at them.
Jake: Yes - He swallowed.
Elena: Why they... - I was white as sheet.
Jake: I have no fucking idea, Elena - He was white too.
We were standing and looking at each other for a while, but then we came back to earth.
Jake: We... I mean... - He stuttered - I have to open the car.
Elena: Um, yes - I coughed - They are waiting for us.
Then, Jake took my hand and we left the hotel. Luka and Jasmine were waiting for us in front of the car. Jasmine was holding his face and he was touching her waist. All the time they were laughing hard. Jake unlocked the car.
Jake: The car is open. You can enter it now - We were slowly approaching the car.
Luka: Finally! - He laughed - I thought I was going to freeze in here.
Jasmine: Yes, me too. But I think Xavier would warm me up - She smirked at Luka.
Elena&Jake: Xavier? - We looked at them questioningly.
Luka: And I guess I'll call Mia. She wrote her number on my chest - He laughed at Jasmine too.
Elena&Jake: Mia?
Jasmine: And Noah was so close to kiss me and you what? You destroyed everything! - She laughed again.
Luka: Then why you stopped me from going to the room with Ava? - He smirked at her.
Jasmine: Because - She grabbed his collar - I wanted to go there with Mason.
We were listening to them and we were just shocked. What the hell are they talking about? Who are all these people? And why are they acting so strange? They both tried to make themselves angry and jealous. They are definitely not themselves. Since when is Jasmine so sharp, brave, and pugnacious? And Luka? I thought he was so scared to lose her! What's going on here?
Jake: I don't know why, but I have the impression that Luka is behaving as 13 years ago - He whispered to me - You know, when we're travelling.
Elena: I don't recognise him - I whispered too - He was so embarrassed next to her a few days ago. And let alone Jasmine. Are you sure they are our Luka and Jasmine?
Jake: The appearance is correct, so I think yes. What the hell happened there?
Elena: Do you think they are together?
Jake: We will find out when they come back to earth.
Then, Jake approached the car and sat down on the driver's seat. I sat down next to him and Jasmine and Luka seat on the back seats. All the time they were laughing.
Elena: How long will we be at the airport? - I looked at Jake.
Jake: Fortunately, the airport is not far away. I think we will be there in 10 or 15 minutes.
Luka and Jasmine didn't even listen to us. They were taking with each other and whispering about all these people and the party. We couldn't understand a single word. I saw that Jake was still angry at them, so did I. I wasn't mad because they got drunk. I was mad because they had a lot of fun without me! Now I totally understand Dan. He was mad at me and Jake too, because we got drunk without him. Cheaters!
Jake was right. We reached the airport in the very last moment. We have Jasmine and Luka sunglasses and we were praying that no one notice theirs condition. Fortunately, the staff of the plane knew us so well that we didn't even have to show the documents. Of course they looked questioningly at Jasmine and Luka, but they didn't ask questions. When we sat down on the seats, me and Jake were so relieved.
Jake: What a luck - He sighed and looked at me.
Elena: Tell me about it - I sighed too - Did you call the car rental company that one car was left at the bar?
Jake: Yes. I told them that when I was talking about the second car at the airport.
Elena: Good - I looked at Luka and Jasmine. They were sitting in front of us and still had a lot of energy.
Jake: They will be useless tomorrow, Elena.
Elena: I know - I sighed - We will have to do everything alone.
I put off my iPad from the bag and started working on my schedule again. Also, I received some new information about Sarah from Eric earlier, so I had to took some notes.

He just sighed and nodded. I know he would never order me to stop or start the work. But also I know how worried he is. That's why I always send him my smile. When he sees my smile he always gives up and let me work.
Then, I heard my phone. I was shocked, because it was 12 at night. Jake was confused too and looked at his watch. I took my phone and saw it.
I immediately turned pale and looked at Jake.
Jake: Are you expecting a call from someone? - He was looking at my phone too.
Elena: No, of course not. Do you think...
Jake: I don't think it's him. It would be too risky for him to call you. It would help me track him immediately.
My heart started beating like crazy. I think I was scared because of the fact that Jennifer was always called me during dealing with Hannah's case. But now... Jake was right. It would be stupid of the Maria's kidnapper to call me now. I took a deep breath and picked up the phone.
Elena: Hello?
Man: Hello, Elena. Nice to hear you again - He laughed.
When I heard the voice I was so relieved. I think it know that voice, so it's not the kidnapper. That's for sure.
Elena: I am sorry, but who is speaking? I think I know your voice, but...
Adam: Adam - He laughed again - Rector of the Harvard University. You know, the one with who you were drinking.
Elena: No way! - I laughed - Are you serious? You still have my number?
Adam: Of course! I should be mad at you, because as I can see you deleted my number!
Elena: Yes, I am sorry - I laughed - After graduation I deleted all my contacts.

Elena: Well, thank you. Yes, I have to admit that my law knowledge really comes in handy right now - I laughed.
Adam: I heard you say that you will be in the Boston, am I right?
Elena: Yes, why?
Adam: I wanted to ask you if you would have time and would you like to visit our university again? I can see how much experience you have gained. You could give one lecture to freshman criminal law students.
When I heard that I turned pale and my heart started beating like crazy. Jake noticed that and looked at me questioningly. He didn't hear the call so he has no idea what I have already heard.
Adam: Elena? Are you still there?
Elena: Yes, yes. I am sorry I just... I didn't expect that.
Adam: To be honest I wanted to offer you a job as a lecturer as soon as you graduated, but you disappeared. But I really hope you would find some time to visit us.
Elena: I'm so sorry... I don't think it's a good idea...
Adam: I know that you are afraid of meeting Liam - He sighed - I know how much you two were in love and I had to destroy it. But you don't have to be worried. He's been out of office for two years.
Elena: What? Why? - I narrowed my eyes.

Jake: What? Why?
Elena: Because he was following all my actions and he is proud of me - I sighed - He noticed how experienced I am and want me to share it with students.
Jake: Elena - He grabbed my hand - I'm sorry. You can't go there.
Elena: Liam is not there. He is out of office for 2 years. Adam said that he is in the other half of the world right now.
Jake: I still don't think it's a good idea, Elena - He said calmly.
Elena: As long as I know he is not in the USA I am fine. Now, I'm feeling even much safer.
Jake: But we are not able to do this. Luka and Jasmine will be useless tomorrow and we have to visit two bars. It's impossible.
Elena: I can go there alone and you would go to the bars.
Jake: No, Elena - He started nodding - I won't let you go there alone.
Elena: I will be fine, Jake - I grabbed his hand - He isn't there. He won't be able to fly here in a few hours. Moreover, he won't even find out about this. I'll make sure if that.
Jake: How?
Elena: I know all lecturers there, they adore me - I laughed - You know me, Jake. You know how stubborn I am. He won't find out, I promise.
Jake: Why do you want to visit them so much?

He looked deep into my eyes and finally smiled. My heart filled with happiness again. I was about to took the phone again and call Adam, but I looked straight ahead and saw that there is no Jasmine and Luka.
Elena: Where are they? - I started looking around.
Jake: What? - He narrowed his eyes looked at their seats - For God's sake! - He shouted and got up.
Elena: Can you do it alone? I would call Adam in the meantime.
Jake: Of course - He pulled up the sleeves of his shirt - Daddy will give them a lesson of discipline.
Elena: Danford! - I laughed.
Jake just smiled discreetly and went to find them. I started nodding and took my phone again.
Adam: I hope you're calling with good news - He laughed.
Elena: Can you assure me that Liam is not in Boston, Adam?
Adam: Yes, Elena. If he had been here, I would never have offered you this. I am not sure about it, but I think he is in China or Korea. Anyway, he isn't in Boston, that's for sure.
Elena: If so, see you tomorrow - I laughed.
Adam: Really? - He sounded excited - Thank you, Elena. The rest of the lectures will be as happy when they find out.
Elena: But Liam can't find out about it, Adam.
Adam: You know us, Elena. Of course we won't tell him. Besides, he's not talking to anyone here anymore. He cut himself off completely from us.
Elena: Thank you - I sighed - What time should I be there?
Adam: Classes start at 9 am. Can you come by this hour?

I hung up and I leaned my head against the headrest of the chair. I was so incredibly happy. I have wanted to visit them all so many times and finally I am able to do it. Then, I saw Jake. He passed our seats and walked forward to the other end of the plane. I thought I would die laughing.
Elena: Have you found them?
Jake: I'll kill them. I swear - He was furious and he didn't even looked at me. He pulled up his sleeves even higher.
I started laughing and nodding. They are just impossible. I wanted to take my iPad and continued my work, but I heard my phone again. It was Eric. I immediately started smiling.
Elena: Hello - I said with my wide smile.
Eric: YOU ARE CRAZY! - He shouted to my ear. I even had to take the phone away from my ear for a moment.
Elena: Did you like our little show? - I smirked.
Eric: You two are geniuses, Elena. Sarah's lawyers are furious right now! - He laughed - They are in the dead end!
Elena: I told you I am the best of the best.
Eric: You are just incredible, Elena. And your discrete signals to Sarah... Just amazing! You are incredibly intelligent. People loves Jake. We will win this case, Elena. I know it.
Elena: Duh! Of course - I laughed.
Eric: I have one more good news. I made it and Jasmine with Luka will testify in front of me.
Elena: That's great news!
Meanwhile, Jake came back with Luka and Jasmine. Was was grabbing them and he pushed them into their seats. Jake was furious and fastened their seat belts so they wouldn't run away again. Luka and Jasmine were laughing so hard. Jake sat down next to me again and sighed.
Eric: Tell me about it! But that wasn't easy. You don't even know how hard Sarah fought for them.
Elena: I can imagine. They are the most important witnesses in this case, right after Jacob.
Eric: I am so incredibly happy, Elena. We are on the right track. We will get him out of this.

Elena: Luka, Jasmine... - I grabbed my head and sighed - You are impossible.
Luka: One of the pilots wanted to let me steer for a moment, but then he took me from there - He pointed at Jake angrily - Mr. Destroyer of fun!

Jake just looked at me angrily, Luka and Jasmine burst out laughing. Fortunately, we were about to land anyway. The flight should only take us an hour.
We arrived at the hotel before 2 am. Jake grabbed Jasmine and Luka and pushed them to their room. Towards the end of the drive, they began to feel sleepy and tired. Then, we entered our room, Jake threw things on the couch and threw himself on the bed.
Elena: And that's the second reason why I don't want children - I got closer to him and laughed. He was lying belly down on the bed.

I took a quick shower and I washed off my makeup. All the time I was thinking about Jasmine and Luka. They acted differently... They kissed for God's sake! Will they remember about this? They are completely wasted after all. All I know is that I will have a serious conversation with them.
I tried to do everything as soon as possible so Jake wouldn't have to wait long for me. I left the bathroom and he was still lying down on the bed. Of course he fell asleep. I looked at his beautiful face and smiled. Then, I kissed him and he opened his eyes. I touched his face and looked deep into his eyes.
Elena: Go - I said warmly and smiled - I will wait for you.
Jake smiled, got up and went to the bathroom. Meanwhile, I was took my iPad to take some notes for tomorrow. This won't be my first lecture in my life, because when I was with Liam he allowed me to give a few lectures for younger students. It was back when everything was great between us. I smiled at that memory. Then, I shook my head. I don't want to think about him. Not anymore. I don't even want to think about these beautiful moments, because they were like that too, indeed.
Jake didn't take a long shower either. He left the bathroom after 20 minutes and of course, looked angrily at me.
Elena: Easy, daddy - I laughed - Mommy has already finished her work - I put it on the nightstand next to the bed.

Elena: I should have been there by 9:00, so I will have to get up at 7. I even forgot what it's like to get up so early - I laughed - The last time I was getting up so early was when I was the student.
Jake: I have bad feelings about it Elena... - He sighed.
Elena: Because you are worried. I haven't gone anywhere without you for a long time.
Jake: Yes, the last time you were in one room with hotel's owner and you know how it ended. You were completely wasted! - He laughed.
Elena: I will be careful, Jake. I promise. Besides, I trained with Jacob. I know how to defend myself.
