I was back in the club a few nights later having a quiet moment alone, when Mello made his way over to me.

"Hey, did you score tonight?" He asked.

"Would I be sitting here alone if I had?" I smiled up at him.

"Eh, me neither." He shrugged and sat down beside me. "Wanna make out?"

"Sure."

We started making out and he moved to sit on my lap facing me. He pulled his lips away from mine to kiss down my neck.

"I love you."

He stopped kissing and looked up at me. "What did you say?"

"Nothing."

"You just said you love me."

"No, I just got carried away in the moment." I protested.

He moved off my lap and sat back beside me.

"Y/N, this isn't going to work if you have feelings for me."

"I know." I stared at my lap where he'd just been.

"And do you?" I nodded and he sighed.

"I'm sorry." I said.

"You don't need to be sorry. I just thought we could fool around sometimes, no strings attached. But I don't want to hurt you."

"I'm used to being hurt." I said numbly.

"Well then I definitely don't want to hurt you even more. And I don't care about hurting most people. You're the only girl I've ever liked enough to kiss. I think you're awesome. If only you were a guy..."

"No Mello, don't say that. That makes it worse. I'm sorry I ruined it."

We sat in awkward silence.

"Will you be ok? Cos like, I might go now."

"I'll be fine." I said.

He kissed my cheek. "You'll meet someone nice, don't worry."

"Yeah." I faked a smile and he left.

My tears started as I sat alone and watched him walk away.

But I don't want someone nice, I want you...
