Dwight finally came home after a long day at work and stops in his tracks when he sees me cooking the kitchen.

He smells the Sofrito, Recaito and Abodo from the rice, dancing through the air. The green bean casserole had five minutes left in the oven and the crushed plantains were fresh out of the deep fryer.

"What is this?" He asks, slightly amused.

"Just a little, dinner celebrating my day back..." I say, wiping my hands on the front of my apron.

He takes off his jacket and I saw him wince when he moved his left shoulder.

"Hey, I saw that. What happened? How are you hurt?" I ask, heading over to him.

He towers over me, but I don't care.

"I had to restrain a Guard member who wanted to beat Nathan's face in. He got the jump on me and threw me against the bar of the Grey Gull. Jammed my shoulder pretty bad." He explains.

"Did you go to the doctor?" I ask.

"This isn't the first time I got into a bar fight, Y/N." He says.

"But that's still doesn't mean that you couldn't get hurt. Let me see." I say.

"I said I'm fine,"

"And I don't believe you. Show me." I command.

He sighs with annoyance and unbuttons his shirt. He pulls it off and turns his back to me. I prevent myself from looking at Dwight's thick and well sculpted body. My eyes find my way to his shoulder.

His left shoulder has a huge deep and dark purple bruise on it and smaller bruises are litter the skin along his upper back. It looked really bad.

"Dwight, this.. this looks really bad. You need to get that checked out." I say.

"No. I'll be fine." He says as he puts his shirt back on.

He walks into the kitchen with a limp that he tries to mask, but I could see right through it.

"Why are you really doing this, Y/N?" He asks before taking a bite of a plantains.

I sigh as I sit one of his stools.

"I feel guilty." I say.

"For what?"

"For everything. For lying to you about Karissa. For leaving you here alone. For dying in your arms. And I'll admit to something that I'm pretty sure you are, but you just won't admit it." I state.

He raises his eyebrow as he sits down next to me.

"Alright, enlighten me." He says.

"I'm lonely.. Duke is gone. Audrey is gone. Nathan has made himself a punching bag. Karissa... is a part of me now. My parents are gone.. you're all I have left, Dwight." I add.

He momentarily looked into my eyes with his ocean blue eyes before looking away. He folds his hands together in front of him as he stares at the countertop.

"Please talk," I say.

"Do you still feel Karissa in you?" He asks .

"You're talking to her right now." I say as I lay a hand on his forearm.

He inhales deeply at my touch and pulls me to my feet and closer to him. He cups the side of my face and I hold onto his wrists. He slowly leans in until his lips meets mine. Our lips started out moving slowly, but soon escalated to a fast pace. He lifts me up from the back of my thighs and I slide my fingers through his hair.

He stood from the stool and I'm at my tippy toes as I continued to kiss him. He lifts me effortlessly onto the counter and wraps my legs around his waist.

He pulls away from my lips and pressed kisses down my neck as my regain my breath. I tug on the back of his neck for him to encourage his movements.

The oven beeped and reminded me that I needed to take it out before it burns. Before I let things advance any further, I say:

"Wait, Wait, Wait. I need to turn off the rice and take out green bean casserole."

He groans before pulling away from me and letting me slide off of the counter top. I trot over to the kitchen and reached into the oven with my mittens. I set the casserole on the counter and turned off the rice.

"You made green been casserole?" He asks when I approach him.

I nod and smile cheerfully.

"You're amazing," He says before cupping my cheeks and pulling me in for another kiss.

The sound of Dwight heavy footsteps woke me from my sleep. I sit up in bed and look towards the door to see Dwight walking into the room with his chief of police jacket in his hand.

"Sorry. I didn't want to wake you." He says, pecking my lips.

"It's okay. You heading into that station early?" I ask

He nods and sits on the edge of the bed with a sigh.

"Do you need my help?" I ask.

"No, I don't want you to disrupt your sleep. Just go back to bed." He says.

"Well I'm already awake. Let me help." I say.

"Okay, we'll leave in fifteen. Dress warm, this is a cold trouble." He says.

"Just another day in Haven," I say with I sigh as I swinging my legs over the edge of the bed.
