It's been a few days since I last saw Zeke. It's probably for the best. The fewer distractions I have from my academics, the better. I am snapped back to reality when my roommate walks in with her friends.

"Hey girl!" She says.

"Hey," I say.

"You comin' to the Phoenix tonight?" She asks.

"What's the Phoenix?" I ask.

"Tre, where's this chick from?" One girl asks as she sizes me up.

"I'm from Boston." I answer with sass.

"You finna come at me?" The girl says as she walks toward me.

"You come at me with sass, I come at you with sass. It's pretty simple." I say as I stand from the bed.

"Ay, no fighting with my roommate. She's a freshman, she don't know any better." My roommate defends.

"Just keep your girl in line, Tre. The girls at the Phoenix ain't gone be as nice as me." She says.

"Yeah, Yeah. But anyhow, the Phoenix is a small club a couple blocks from campus, everyone goes there." My roommate explains.

"Especially them fine boys from Theta Nu Theta and Mu Gamma." Another girl says.

"We plannin' in leaving around eight, you comin'?" My roommate states.

I peer at my homework that was due in two days before I say:

"Sure,"

I just finished doing my braids that end at mid stomach.

"How much did that weave cost?" One of the girls ask as I apply my eye shadow.

"It's not weave. I've been growing this hair for the passed five years." I say.

"Damn, thats a long time." She says.

"Well.. it was worth the wait." I respond.

At this point, I already put on my eyeliner, mascara, my hoop earrings and necklace as well as my perfume and lotion.

"Alright, I'm ready to go."

My roommate, her friends and me all drive to the the Phoenix together. Once we walk in, the music blasts from the speakers as well as the humidity from the Georgia air and heat from the huge mass of people laced the air. I take a deep breath before following my roommate through the crowds.

"All right everybody, here's the King of the Dancefloor!" I hear a man yell into the microphone.

This brings butterflies to my stomach as I continue to walk through the crowd.

"Mm girl, look at Zeke. Lookin' fine as always." One of the girls say.

I follow her gaze to see Zeke sitting down on a couch with a girl sitting on the arm rest. His hands rests calmly on her lowly back as he speaks with one of his other friends.

Zeke looks up and locks eyes with me. I roll my eyes at him and make my way to the bar.

"Hey girl, where ya going!" My roommate asks over the loud music.

"To get a drink," I say pointing towards the bar.

"Alright.. we'll be watching the dance floor. See you there." She says.

Luckily I brought my ID, in case some bartenders try to pull something stupid.

"Y/N!" I hear him call but I choose to ignore him.

I approach the bar and order two shots of tequila.

"Y/N," Zeke says as he stands next to me.

"What do you want, Zeke?" I snap.

"Okay, what's with the sass?" He asks.

"I've just been played, okay. I have a right to be sassy." I say.

"What are you talking about?" He asks.

"I'm talking about the fact that you were all flirty the first time I saw you. So flirty that I actually thought that you may be a decent guy. Then I don't see you for almost a week and when I do, you have some thirsty girl practically sitting on your lap. It- you know what, I shouldn't even care about this." I rant before downing one shot.

I notice that Zeke was oddly quiet for our conversation, so I look over to see him smirking.

"Why the f- why are you smiling?" I ask.

"Because you actually fell for it,. I didn't think you would." He says.

"So this was a game. You're an asshole, I hope you know that." I say before downing another shot.

"I wanted to see if i wasn't tripping over the fact that you liked me. I wanted to make sure, so I took other routes to my classes and that's why you didn't see me." He explains.

"Yeah, okay." I say sarcastically as I stand from the bar.

"Why do you think your roommate asked you to go to the club on a Tuesday?" He says.

I stop in my tracks and turn around to face him.

"So you really expect me to believe that you planned this whole thing from the get go?" I ask.

"I didn't take advanced classes just because I look good. So I believe that I could pull all this off. The question is: do you believe it?" He says.

He stands from the stool and leans in close to me. I freeze in my spot because I think that he was about to kiss me, but instead, he says:

"Dance with me,"

He pulls back ever so slightly to maintain eye contact.

"I'm pretty sure that girl that you were with earlier will be more than happy to." I say into his ear.

"You being sassy only makes you even more sexy in my mind." He says.

I glare at him and he pulls my closer by my hands.

"Dance with me," he repeats.

I look at the dance floor where two guys were battling and smile to myself.

"I got a better idea," I say to him.

I slip out of his grasp and weave my way through the crowd. I jump over a concrete divider before hopping on the DJ's stands and back flipping off of it.

A loud whoah came from the crowd as I land perfectly and walk into the dance floor.

"What do we have here? A new dancer. What's your name, Sweetheart?" The host asks.

"Call me Queen," I say to him.
