It was finally time , the night Shinjiro decided to cook for everyone . He went with Fuuka into the kitchen , and the two started working , Minako wanted to help as well , but Shinjiro insisted on that she stays out of the kitchen and just watch them work . Nevertheless , she didn't persist , as the kitchen was pretty cramped with both Shinjiro and Fuuka in there .
" alright , as I had mentioned before , prepare everything beforehand " Shinjiro said as he began working " now while I focus on preparing the meat , you prepare the pan "
" um ... yes ... the ... uh ... pan " Fuuka stuttered
" start by adding four tablespoons of olive oil " Shinjiro said , but then he looked at her and screamed " stop ! The hell do you think you're doing ?! That's vinegar ! How many times must you make that mistake ?!! "
" are you sure you don't want me in the kitchen instead , Shin-chan? "
" no ! I'll be distracted "
" distracted ? " Minako found that reason odd , but chose to keep quiet as the mess Shinjiro was was already chaotic as it is
" so he's really gonna cook for the team ? " Minato said excitedly " I'm starting to feel hungry just thinking about it "
" I know , right ?! I'll go call the others ! "
Minako hurried upstairs , just as Shinjiro was yelling at Fuuka for dropping an egg on the ground .
While Shinjiro and Fuuka were struggling in the kitchen , the front door of the lounge opened up and in came Yukari, Junpei and Akihiko , with Junpei carrying a bottle of soft drinks . They immediately sensed the delicious aroma and noticed the mess in the kitchen . Minato welcomed them and explained to them what was happening .
" so Shinji's cooking , huh ? " Akihiko remarked " will you grace us inferiorities with any leftovers ? "
" what do you mean ? " Minato asked
" I'm saying that when you cook something in front of other people who live with you , you're supposed to be a good friend and make enough for everyone "
" I'm not gonna waste my breath and answer a stupid question asked by an idiot , I already have my hands—hey ! For the last freaking time this is not the right knife to chop onions ! " Shinjiro was clearly too busy to bother with Akihiko
" he is cooking for everyone , senpai " Minato explained
" he is ?! " Akihiko couldn't believe what he heard
" and you'd better believe I'm flushing your share down the toilet if I saw a single particle of protein on the table when I'm done , Aki !!! " Shinjiro yelled before turning back to the kitchen
" Shinji is cooking for everyone ?! Alright ! I've been waiting for this ! " Akihiko exclaimed " I'll go call everyone else ! "
" wait , senpai ! Minako has .... " By the time Minato began talking , Akihiko was already out of reach
Upstairs , Akihiko met with Mitsuru and Minako in front of Ken's room . Minako was hyping like it was the festival of her life , so much so that Mitsuru was confused by her happiness . Akihiko knocked on Ken's room and told him about how Shinjiro was cooking for the team.
" oh ... Shinjiro-san is ... cooking ... ? Well ... I'm not really hungry ... " Ken seemed reluctant to agree
" Ken ! Listen here ! " Minako was having none of it and she was persistent that everyone would participate in this joyous night , so she held Ken's shoulder and said " do you remember the omelette and fried rice that I cooked for you a few weeks ago ? "
" uh ... yes ... ? "
" well , I , the one who cooked it , am telling you myself that it is nothing in comparison to what Shin-chan is cooking right now ! It's a once in a lifetime opportunity ! You've never and will never taste anything like it , trust me ! "
" Shin ... chan... ? " Ken murmured
" what ? "
" n—nothing ... If ... if it's that delicious , then I guess I'll give it a try "
" you won't regret it , I swear ! " Minako nodded triumphantly
By the time Minako and the others descended back to the lounge , Shinjiro was already done cooking . The table was filled with jaw droppingly delicious-looking plates . From Japanese food like Sushi and Ramen , to foreign plates like a roasted chicken , a folded fish and more . Minako was so fascinated by the sight that she stood there speechlessly for a second . She was the one who anticipated the result the most , and yet somehow she was the most shocked of them all . Everyone sat and began eating , with Minako occasionally stopping to make sure everyone was trying a little of everything so they wouldn't miss out on anything at all .
" Minato ! C'mon ! Eat up ! " Minako hissed at her brother " what're you spacing out for ?! "
" well , I'm just wondering how Aigis is eating this food " Minato stared at Aigis who was eating with everyone else
" my body can also benefit from the biological energy that is stored in nutrients that humans consume " Aigis seemed to have heard him
" that's ... weird ... " Minato murmured
" weird or not , shut up and start eating " Shinjiro said as he placed another plate on the table
" what about you , Shin-chan? Aren't you going to eat ? "
" I've already had my full , I don't like to eat much ... "
" no ! " Minako angrily yelled at him " just because it's your cooking and you're used to it , doesn't mean that you get to clock out first ! Sit down and eat like everyone else ! "
" okay ... sheesh ! "
" hey , Junpei ! " Yukari yelled across the table " give that chicken wing back ! It's mine ! "
" c'mon , Yukatan ! " Junpei replied " I'm doing you a favor , if you kept eating like that you'll get fat ! "
" what was that ?!! "
" Ken , what do you think of the food ? " Fuuka asked
" oh ... um ... it's delicious "
" here , try some of this " Minako passed him a plate of omelette and fried rice
" I can't believe you had it in you to come up with such an idea , Shinji "
" I hadn't " Shinjiro shrugged " it was Minako "
" I see , it's only natural for Arisato to think of the team " Mitsuru nodded with satisfaction
" Ahahaha ... " Minako laughed and blushed " it's not really that big of a deal "
" you're getting rice in you hair , sister "
" what ?! Where ?! " Minako looked frantically around , but then noticed that her brother used that opening to grab on of her riceballs " h—hey ! "
It was a fun night for everyone , and by the time they finished eating , they had satisfied both their stomachs and their hearts . After that , Minako decided to clean up after the feast . Shinjiro tried to decline her offer , but she was having none of it and insisted that she cleans it up , especially after she missed out on cooking with Shinjiro . Shinjiro had to settle in for just helping her with the cleaning . As the two washed the dishes together , Shinjiro noticed how joyful Minako was , to the point where she was humming to herself . Frankly , she had been so happy the whole night her face was almost shining with happiness .
" hey , Shin-chan " Minako suddenly said " let's do it again sometime ? "
" again ? You didn't have you full from one party ? " Shinjiro let a quick laugh
" when we end the Dark Hour , let's all celebrate and cook an even bigger feast , and this time I'll participate , too ! There're only three shadows left , so we're gonna wipe them all out and then celebrate , just as we did today ! "
" yeah , let's do it " Shinjiro nodded with an eager smile
" I'm so glad everyone liked this feast , Shin-chan " Minako said " it wasn't only the food , this whole night brought us all together even more ! "
" yeah , and I probably would never have even thought about it had you not suggested it . Thank you , Minako "
" I ... I didn't do anything " Minako blushed as she placed the last dish in its place " you're the one who worked hard and cooked for us all , Shin-chan "
" well , today was definitely eventful , and I guess I had my fun for the night , so I guess I'll go to sleep " Shinjiro yawned " you'd better go to sleep ,too "
" right ! Good night "
Shinjiro ascended to his room and closed the door , then he muffled his mouth , clutched his chest and began coughing violently . He slowly made his way to his bed until he collapsed on it , and stared at the ceiling while perspiring .
" let's celebrate again , huh ? Yeah ... right ... "
