4/5: Hidden Talent
Author's Note: After I'm done with the what if mini scenarios I'll probably try my hand at oneshots for the Mud Dogz (the guys in the episode Raph's Ride Along)
I got inspired by reading some of the fans' headcanons and oneshots about them on tumblr so expect a few in this book (and feel free to request them as well)
🧡Brainteasers🧡
During lunch time at the lair...
"Whatcha writing?" Mikey asked.
"Brainteasers for an extra credit project."
"Well, more towards riddles than the usual thinking problems."
"Wanna try a few?" (Y/N) asked as Mikey happily nodded.
"Okay, 'it' likes food but 'it' also hates water."
"What is 'it'?" (Y/N) said as Mikey started thinking about the answer.
"Is it close to a sciencey sort of answer?" Mikey asked.
"Sort of but, I can give a few hints, if you want." (Y/N) said.
"Maybe on the first one please." Mikey said as (Y/N) giggled.
"Sometimes, Raph gets concerned about your previous weapon."
"With how its a safety hazard." (Y/N) said as an imaginary lightbulb appeared above Mikey's head.
"Oh! Is 'it' a fire!" Mikey said as (Y/N) grinned.
"Correct! And the last one..."
"Which sentence is the right one?"
"'The yolk of the egg is white'. or 'The yolk of the egg are white'." (Y/N) said as Mikey placed his hand on his chin.
"Wait a minute! Its neither because,"
"Egg yolks are yellow and I cooked a few for today's breakfast!" Mikey said as (Y/N) snickered.
"Since you got both of the riddles right,"
"You get a special prize!" (Y/N) said causing Mikey's eyes to light up.
"Omigosh! Really-"
Mikey silently understood the prize as he felt his lips sharing a kiss with his partner. After the kiss, (Y/N) held his hand.
"I'm a bit nervous to present my extra credit project to the class so..."
"Is it okay if you and your brothers work in teams of two as a practice session?"
"I also brought a few treats for this mini competition." (Y/N) said as Mikey sent a reassuring squeeze.
"Yep! (Y/N), I'll go get them."
"Just let me know when you're done setting up!" Mikey said giving them a heartfelt hug before rushing over to the arcade.
The wholesome thought lingered on his mind. Happy to see to (Y/N), slowly gaining confidence as their relationship continued to grow strong.
💙Typing💙
7 pm in the lair near the living room...
The sound of fast typing got Leo's attention as he observed (Y/N) with their laptop.
"Stuck with doing most of the group work?" Leo asked as (Y/N) shooked their head no.
"Two of them had a family emergency and sent their typed work as of yesterday."
"I only have the last paragraph to do and then we can check out that new twenty four hour skate park." (Y/N) said typing half of the text.
"Don't worry about it (Y/N)."
"Although, I never you see brag about your fast typing skills." Leo said as (Y/N) smiled.
"To be honest, it was mostly my cousin who helped me learn how to type."
"And mainly from a game called The Typing of The Dead."
"She hated how slow and demanding the regular typing system was so,"
"What better way to learn words by fighting zombies with a keyboard!" (Y/N) said.
"I heard the sequel got rid of the iconic battery backpack and replaced it with,"
"Two keyboards stuck to a shotgun."
"But, the voice acting is still great though." Leo said as (Y/N) snickered.
"Something about the corny atmosphere feels a bit comforting during a zombie apocalypse."
"It was nice that the Resident Evil remake made a brief mention at the Jill sandwich joke."
"Even though it was worded differently..." (Y/N) said as Leo shrugged.
"Its weird how zombies went from being slow to chasing people. And all up in their personal space."
Leo stopped his train of thought as his signature slow smirk started to appear on his face.
"About that typing game you mentioned earlier,"
"I bet I can get a higher score before you can..." Leo said as (Y/N) sent an email of the final draft to their English teacher.
Slightly amused by the challenge.
15 minutes later...
"The high score only counts after defeating the final boss!" Leo said as he ignored (Y/N)'s 4000+ score over his under the average of 2500+ in chapter 1.
He felt his heart flutter hearing them laugh as the couple continued to play the game. And more careful not to let his overcompetitive nature ruin this nice moment.
💜Speed Reading💜
11 pm near Donnie's lab...
(Y/N) lightly yawned after placing a notecard inside one of their assigned books for History.
"Did you actually read through the chapter or do you plan on winging another assignment with your speed reading strategy?" Donnie asked.
"The first and last paragraphs of any chapter covers most of the topic to begin with."
"And reading only the topic sentence in the body paragraphs saves a lot time."
"Blame the wise guy who thought, it was a good idea to have the words in the smallest text font..." (Y/N) said covering another yawn in their (f/c) hoodie.
"There are apps so you can adjust the text font and clear away the clutter of certain long length paragraphs." Donnie said.
"I'll keep that in mind for the scholarly journals or whatever its called."
"I probably won't be relying on my speed reading tactic for that so,"
"You can gloat a little bit on that matter." (Y/N) said as Donnie hummed.
"True but, I rather not have you pass out on me."
"April told me you nearly slept through the second orientation for online peer reviewed articles..." Donnie said as (Y/N) sighed.
"Just give me a few more hours and I'll be-"
Donnie rolled his chair in front of (Y/N) and effortlessly took the book out of his partner's hands. As he gently kissed their forehead. He noticed them mouthing the words done as (Y/N)'s entire face started to blush.
"Did you really have to lightly brush my hair away to do that..." (Y/N) said looking away from him as Donnie half smiled.
"It would have been rude to cut you off with a sudden kiss on the lips."
"Just be glad I didn't have any pocky with me." Donnie said as (Y/N)'s blush deepened now glaring at him.
"Don't even think about it Donatello!" (Y/N) said as Donnie sent a smirk back at them.
"Hmmm, my sweet tooth is kind of craving for one right now..." Donnie said getting out of his seat in a pondering matter, casually exiting the lab as (Y/N) chased after him in a hurry.
Around 12:30 am...
As (Y/N) slept on his lap, he typed a reminder on his phone to buy that particular snack while his partner was at school.
Just in case, (Y/N) was too stubborn to take a break. And the thought of finally getting back at them, for constantly teasing him before they started dating felt great.

6 pm near the kitchen...
"Raph, do you need something?" (Y/N) asked as they turned around spotting the large snapping turtle trying not to seem worried about something.
"Nope, not worried about anything-"
"Worried about (Y/N) getting a slight cut from the kitchen utensils." Mikey said as he brought the vegetables for a veggie pizza recipe.
Raph slightly froze by his youngest brother's comment as (Y/N) raised their eyebrow at him.
"Well, I could use extra help on the onions."
"I forgot to bring my goggles for it." (Y/N) said.
"Like, give some sort of signal when you need a brief moment to stop."
"So you don't start crying." Raph said as (Y/N) nodded starting to cut one of the washed vegetables.
20 minutes later...
Mikey took the separate bowls of spinach, eggplant, zucchini, squash, and bell peppers near the tray covered with the flattened pizza dough. His curiosity got the best of him as he silently watched the couple. Copying Donnie's tactic of using the reflective phone screen to spy on the duo.
(Y/N) only had half of the onion bulb left and placed the knife down. After their cheek felt a light tap as they looked directly at Raph. With his face beginning to blush as he slowly wiped a tear on (Y/N)'s face with his finger.
(Y/N) silently grinned seeing his flustered reaction and started to nuzzle their face into his hand.
"These are more tears of joy knowing that I have such a caring boyfriend..." (Y/N) said as Raph returned a smile now kissing his partner on the lips.
The couple suddenly heard a certain turtle clearing his throat almost gushing about the cute moment.
"I guess the turtledoves are almost finished with the onions." Mikey said as (Y/N) stuck their tongue at the nosy turtle now returning to cut the onion bulb in large chunks.
Placing the chopped pieces into the last bowl and handing it to him.
25 minutes later...
"I don't like how Cooking Mama has fire in her eyes if you mess up one of the steps to the recipe." Raph said as (Y/N) sat on his lap with the DS showing the poor quality instant ramen.
"That feeling goes away trying to one hundred percent the game."
"At least there's only one step to the instant ramen." (Y/N) said as they started giving the device to him.
Raph really appreciated how patient (Y/N) was. Along with cheering him on as the couple waited for the pizza.

I couldn't keep track on how many times I had to rewrite this oneshot (I'm slightly impressed by the fluffy parts though)
I learned the speed reading trick from my previous semesters before the transition to online classes (I sort of tolerate long body paragraphs because of it lol)
