Requested by Totally_Weird with a few changes to the prompt
(Y/N)'s friend hid in her hoodie as she reminisced about the 2012 tmnt series.
(Y/N) didn't watch the series but comforted their friend, asking questions on why she enjoyed that particular version of the turtles. They accomplished cheering her up for a bit as (F/N) says the purple one being Donatello is her favorite. One hour later, she had to leave for a doctor's appointment and the two teens separated for the day.
(Y/N) didn't ask if (F/N) was going to watch the 2018 version and for good reasons.
Most people weren't fond of the new designs and another reboot with high expectations.
Although for (Y/N), they stayed open minded about it. Especially when their social media account had plenty of artists and fans enjoying a new perspective of these turtles.
They click on a video as it plays a no spoilers summary for season 1.
(Y/N)'s attention was glued to the screen, not realizing they took a different subway train with the exterior similar to the Hidden City's aesthetic. They hold on to the subway handle halfway through the video.
They listen to the woman's opinion on how irritating some of the fans are sticking to the old formula.
(Leo has to be the leader and Raph is usually the mean one, as a few of the annoying things hardcore fans bring up.)
(Y/N) felt bad for those two turtles and decides to start watching the new series despite what those fans say.
Just as the video ends, Raph smash justus the door near them as an chameleon yokai reveals himself, running away to the next door ahead of (Y/N).
(Y/N) latches tightly on the handle while clutching their phone with a stunned expression, noticing the turtle wearing a red bandana chasing after the reptile.
Without even thinking, (Y/N) pinches their cheek feeling the sharp pain realizing this isn't a dream. They put their phone away in their pocket, proceeding to hide under the seats. Their actions end up making the purple turtle trip to the floor, hearing a grunt from him.
(Y/N) gets out to apologize but notices an upcoming attack from the enemy, close to immobilizing the purple turtle.
Immediately, they hop in front of him using their jacket as a shield then wraps the stretchy arm. A shocked expression appears on the chameleon's face not expecting the human to retaliate as (Y/N) hurls the yokai to the ground knocking him out unconscious.
The guys pause in awe as (Y/N) just stops to stare at what they just did.
After a brief moment, the five teens exit the subway train through Leo's portal, landing on a random rooftop building.
(Y/N) tries to explain why they were there without freaking out the turtles. After the short story, Leo displays an annoyed frown seeing Donnie light up with excitement.
"Well I'm content that I'm still the fan favorite."
"Even winning a competition before the show's debut." Donnie said as (Y/N) raised an eyebrow at him.
"So you don't have a place to stay, (Y/N)?" Raph asked as (Y/N) shakes their head no.
"It's been kind of a long day for me."
"And realizing that I took a subway train to a different universe because I didn't notice the Hidden City and yokai decorations."
"(F/N) would definitely enjoy meeting Donatello, if she was here with me..." (Y/N) said feeling a bit homesick.
Donnie halts his slight ego noting the sad expression on their face.
Mikey interrupts him before he could suggest the idea of letting (Y/N) stay over at the lair.
"(Y/N), I'm sure our dad won't mind letting you stay at our place."
"Does (F/N) know our dad's a rat since she's the expert of other ninja turtles?" Mikey said as (Y/N) chuckles saying '(F/N) knows but hates his parenting style, 100% sensei and no mention of any fatherly qualities'.
This causes the guys to overreact now listing every good deed their Splinter does as they head to the lair with (Y/N) on their side.
Almost about a month...
(Y/N) checked their phone on a occasion, spotting how the date number hasn't passed to the 2018 turtles' universe. Still stuck on the day they first met the turtles.
Donnie made a new phone for them during the first week, when they stayed at the lair regarding the unusual side effects.
But afterwards, (Y/N) appreciates the guys' shenanigans on a daily basis.
(Y/N) eventually meets April and Sunita during the second week. Which becomes a once a week hang out with the new trio. The girls sneaking them out for the first time lead the guys to panic on 'where did (Y/N) go?!'.
Splinter sighs but snickers how with his sons are attached to (Y/N) in such a short time period. And (Y/N)'s responsive behavior sometimes shed a tear from him with their kindness being too great in his presence.
Whenever (Y/N) goes with the girls, he talks with hope that one of his sons takes (Y/N)'s hand in marriage causing Donnie to nearly spit out the juice he's drinking.
Mikey and Raph only placed one of their elbows onto his shoulders saying nothing but the grins hinting 'you like like (Y/N), don't cha D?' Eventually provoking Donnie as he chases after his siblings while Leo recognizes (Y/N) back from the hang out.
The youngest and oldest hide behind (Y/N) as Donnie halts with the tech bo in his hands seeing (Y/N) with a silent stare at him.
"I can explain." Donnie muttered as (Y/N) waved it off, unfazed by the chaotic energy.
Around 10 pm, Donnie and (Y/N) head to the park for a real talk session.
Sitting on the swings, Donnie spoke up with dread in his voice.
"Today's the last day at the subway train back to your world."
"Apparently, the demolition procedure will begin tomorrow."
"So a few mutants, yokai, and humans are scrambling to get back there before it happens."
Donnie gripped the chains with his right hand as his shoulders tensed up but resumed speaking.
"And it's a one way trip..."
"Hearing a couple of conductors, mentioning how it cuts off mystic energy for it's final departure."
"I'll just drop you off so you can-"
(Y/N) held his hand interrupting his conversation.
"I could go back to the boring school life and tell (F/N) about this wonderful experience."
"However, I see a certain turtle not ready to say goodbye..." (Y/N) said as Donnie shook away his tears.
"(Y/N)... Are you sure about this..."
"I normally don't reflect on selfish decisions but-"
Donnie was unable to continue talking, close to breaking his voice as (Y/N) sends a sincere smile.
"Your dad might have grounded you for life since you didn't tell him, along with your brothers about this..."
"I also fear what the girls' reaction would have been..." (Y/N) said now with tears on their face hugging his plastron.
Donnie chuckles but embraces them saying dark humor doesn't suit their sweet nature.
Bonus:
One day later in the real world...
The remains of the Hidden City subway train filled a now abandoned route as (F/N) examines the scene with the keep out sign as a barrier. Construction workers leave the site after discarding the pieces for the early evening in a different direction.
Once the coast was near, (F/N) gazes at the enormous debris in a safe distance.
"(Y/N)..."
"I don't know why that name is stuck in my head but it's nice to say."
(F/N) exits the place unscathed on her way back home.
The next day in the rottmnt universe at the destroyed site...
A (f/c) crystal materializes in front of (Y/N), delivered from one of the Hidden City yokai demolition workers as it shows (F/N) and saying their name.
Donnie held his partner in an attempt to console them, but heard laughter seeing (F/N) watch the first episode of the cannonball technique he and his brothers did just as April takes a picture.
"I still don't get why Leo dabs."
"It's already a dead meme." Donnie said in disgust as (Y/N) continued to laugh.
Mikey sighed reminiscing the day the guys got their mystic weapons as Raph separated the two brothers at a bickering debate. Donnie still held (Y/N), annoyed at Leo's stubbornness as (Y/N) hummed soothing their turtle boyfriend.

Typed in one sitting because boring essays suck (But the heartfelt moment was one thing that I was glad to edit hehehe)
(F/N) in this oneshot had doubts to watch the 2018 series but since (Y/N) chose to stay with Donnie; she takes that chance watching the first episode taking the subway train home only remembering (Y/N)'s name in her memory
(Spoiler Alert: She ends up liking the new Donnie as well and can't decide which version is the best lol)
I don't plan on continuing this since I have other requests in the works but I definitely enjoyed this considering it was done in a day
Also the competition referenced is the one to the Splatfests in Splatoon 2 (which Donnie won 1st place; check the wikia for that game for the other results) [even the art with Pearl and Marina holding their weapons for it is cute!!!]
