thirty-four : shopping

April

They all went shopping for their prom outfits together. They split off into groups so when time came their outfits were a surprise; Matthew and Dylan shopped together while their dates did the same.

"Stick to red and black Christopher." Matthew said before they split off.
"I know." Christopher responded.
"don't go too overboard please." Matthew smiled.
"Promise I won't go overboard." Christopher chuckled and he kissed Matthew's cheek.
"And we're going for a jade or emerald green." Dylan said to Elliot.
"Thank you for reminding me." Elliot chuckled.
"Okay. We'll see you guys in a few hours." Matthew smiled.

They went their separate ways in the mall. Matthew and Dylan were shopping in a small store together, giving each other pointers and hyping each other up. Matthew tried on a very nice black dress shirt with a red satin tie. He stared at himself in the mirror for a while.

"I look stupid." Matthew thought to himself.

He tried on a different suit. Dylan came out in her first dress, a beautiful sage green gown that had lots of straps and a slit.

"You look amazing!" Matthew complimented her.
"Thanks! I feel like a dork right now." Dylan sighed.
"You and me both. I just feel like nothing looks right on me." Matthew chuckled nervously.
"Me too." Dylan chuckled with him.
"At least you have way more options, i feel like I don't have enough." Matthew sighed.
"Yeah, I guess I'll try a different dress. I don't like how this fits." Dylan responded.

2:30 pm

Matt: How's your search going? I'm totally freaking out
Chris: About the same. Are you alright beautiful?
Matt: Dyl and I are struggling :(

Matthew helped Dylan zip her dress up, he checked his phone. He smiled as he saw the message.

Chris: I'm sure you both look absolutely gorgeous and stunning in whatever you try on <3

He showed Dylan the text and they both smiled about it. Matthew quickly buried himself in his phone.

Matt: She says thank you. If I didn't know any better I'd think you were trying to romance me Christopher...
Chris: What if I am?
Matt: You're too good to me, can I get some suit pics for encouragement?
Chris: Maybe, do I have to wear a full suit?
Matt: Not at all! we're just struggling over here lol. Is Elliot doing okay?
Chris: He's as stressed as you are right now.

Across the mall Elliot was just as Christopher described. Christopher was struggling too. Shopping is stressful for anyone but, neither of them had shopped for formal clothes by themselves before. Christopher was struggling with his tie, Elliot stepped up next to him.

"Let me help." Elliot offered, he tied Christopher's tie.
"I feel stupid E." Christopher sighed.
"You look dapper." Elliot responded.
"I look like an idiot." Christopher chuckled.
"You and me both." Elliot laughed.
"How are you so good at this?" Christopher asked, looking at his perfectly tied tie.
"My dads taught me." Elliot smiled as he fixed his own outfit.
"Thanks E." Christopher smiled.
"Anytime." Elliot smiled back.
"Damn. We look fine." Christopher joked as he looked in the mirror.
"Damn right." Elliot responded as he dapped Christopher up.
"I think that's the one." Christopher said.
"I really like it!" Elliot chuckled.
"You have a riddler vibe." Christopher said.
"Gotham or The Batman?" Elliot asked.
"Gotham." Christopher answered.
"Thanks." Elliot laughed.
