9. Was He Dumb?

"Hello, how can I help you?" Gu Bai asked the man.

The man's eyes fixed on the store, and he didn't answer.

Gu Bai asked again, "Are you hungry?"

The man remained silent.

Gu Bai didn't know what to say.

Was he dumb?

"Do you want to eat something?"

The man continued to keep silent.

Gu Bai was speechless, turned around, and ignored the man. After all, his stare could do him no harm.

However, just as Gu Bai was about to get into the restaurant, he heard a familiar grumbling sound of the man's stomach.

It felt like a few years had passed since doomsday, even if Gu Bai just got here for a few days.

Everyone was familiar with the sound in his previous life.

"Come in. I'll cook something for you," Gu Bai said helplessly.

He would leave the man alone if it were in the previous life. After all, people were all scheming at that time, and he could barely survive.

Perhaps he had gained a sense of sympathy for people after reincarnation and believed he had to do something to make him reborn worth.

However, Gu Bai forgot that his dishes couldn't make one's stomach full in the Second World.

This time, the man followed him in but still didn't make a sound.

All the ingredients Gu Bai had prepared in the morning had been used up. The truth was, he had used every XB left to buy the ingredients today. Finally, his income had reached 2,000 XB, which doubted the initial fund.

Although that wasn't much, Gu Bai was still satisfied.

He took out 100 XB and bought some raw materials, all of which were relatively light.

He didn't know what kind of food the man favored. Now that his stomach had sent the sign, the man must have been starved for a long time, so the light food was best for him right now.

"Wait here. I'll cook for you." Gu Bai returned to the kitchen with the new ingredients.

Setting the pot in position and firing, Gu Bai then turned around to take the ingredients, but a tall figure almost took his breath away.

"Why did you come in?" Gu Bai frowned and questioned in a bad mood.

Now he believed that the man not only was dumb but also couldn't think straight. Somehow, Gu Bai regretted the decision he had made.

"The kitchen is too small. Just wait outside, and it won't take long," Gu Bai pushed him out of the kitchen, closed the door tightly, and stood in front of the stove again.

He stir-fried the vegetables and tossed the pot occasionally. Finally, he served two bowls of rice, two dishes called Cabbage with Vinegar Sauce, and Griddled Cauliflowers. When he walked out, the man was still standing at the kitchen door, seeming like he didn't move a bit after being pushed out.

Gu Bai wasn't surprised, so he told him, "Come and eat."

There were no chairs in the sitting room, so Gu Bai gave the man the tray and then put a pan down as a dining table.

"Sorry, it's shabby here. Now eat and go home afterward. Your family must be worried about you." Gu Bai couldn't help laughing after saying that.

None of them could really eat anything in the Second World. Instead, they could taste it at best. Even if they were hungry, they felt it that way in the real world. He was so stupid to bring the man in.

However, now that he hadn't had any real food for a long time, he could at least taste what he had made here. To eat real delicacies, he had to earn more, remove the grass, and plant crops as fast as possible.

10. He Had To Raise The Prize

In the First Military Hospital of the Empire in the Central Star, a pale man was lying in the best ICU ward. His chiseled face looked handsome, but his imposing manners prevented people from coming near him even if he was unconscious right now.

"How's Marshal Jun?" Someone asked in a low voice.

The director of the hospital, Fang Ruichen, shook his head thoughtfully, "He hasn't got better. His spirit is on the verge of collapse. I'm afraid it might happen at any time."

The spirit collapse had always been the most dangerous crisis for the interstellar people. The more powerful they were, the more likely their spirits might lose control and break down eventually.

And once that happened, they would either become stupid or die.

Hearing the answer, the man couldn't help punching the wall beside him, "It's all my fault. Marshal Jun wouldn't have taken the bite and become like this if he hadn't saved me. I should be the one who's lying here. I should be the one who is dying right now!"

"Don't you say any nonsense like that in front of me. If you want to die, kill yourself outside." Fang Ruichen glared at the man and roared sternly, "Do it quick. It would be best if you show your enemies that you can save them the trouble and kill yourselves directly. Do it, and then your enemies might keep their energy and drink some wine to celebrate."

Zhao Yuming didn't refute him.

The director was mean as usual, but he couldn't please his enemies. Now that they had hurt Marshal Jun, he had to chase after them and let them pay for it before he died.

"I won't die. Not before I slice them into pieces and revenge Marshal Jun!" Zhao Yuming wiped away his tears, vowing firmly and viciously. His eyes turned sharp, and then he quickly left the hospital.

After a few days without sleeping and resting, Fang Ruichen pinched his nose to ease his eyes, fixing his gaze on the man on the bed.

At this moment, another person came in. He was in a white coat as well but didn't look like Fang Ruichen at all. Instead, he seemed more haughty and energetic.

"Any solutions?" Fang Ruichen asked directly without looking at the comer.

"No." Han Fang was no longer like a playboy but looked at his friend coldly. He was like a different man now.

"Did you find him in the Second World?" Fang Ruichen continued to ask.

"No." Han Fang shook his head, and then he was a bit annoyed, "I told you before that we should have left some information on him, but you refused. Now what? We don't even know what he looks like and where he went. How are we gonna find him if we know nothing about him?"

"He's in a special situation right now. The more people know about him, the more dangerous he is." Fang Ruichen ignored Han Fang's complaint but said calmly.

...

At the same time, Gu Bai and the strange man ate up everything he had made.

Although Gu Bai could taste them, the feeling that he couldn't swallow them had indeed intensified his desire for real food.

Making more money was the only way for him to get closer to delicacies.

Based on the customers' reactions today, Gu Bai realized that his price was a bit low. If the situation continued, it would take him at least two weeks to pay for the weeding robots. Of course, that would only happen when he didn't use the money for any other stuff.

However, the reality was that not only the ingredients but also tables and chairs required money.

Everything needed money!

He had to raise the price! And he had to start tomorrow!

"Alright, now that we are done here, go offline and drink some nutrient fluid. I'm leaving as well," Gu Bai said to the man as he cleaned up the dishes, and then he went offline before the man answered.

He didn't ask the man's name. It was just a rare case that he helped the man, but it didn't mean they would meet again.
