You hadn't spoken to Clint in a week. He looked so hurt the last time he spoke to you, he had told you he was deaf and that he explained his hearing capability. He could hear a little but he relied mainly on reading lips, but he had begun to struggle due to the speed you spoke. When he explained you felt guilty for not being helpful, and not knowing how he was struggling to communicate. Really you couldn't notice, he did so well, but he explained sign language was a lot easier.

When you were in primary school you had learnt some simple sign language but really you couldn't remember any of it as you had never used it outside of the classes. So that's what you had been doing for the last week. Granted you didn't know too much but you knew enough to show you were trying. It hurt you to not speak to Clint, but you had spent every waking moment trying to learn.

Today was the day you were going to show what you had actually learnt. After searching the building you found him staring angrily at his cereal. You walked over to him and tapped his shoulder getting his attention.

He looked even more upset.

"What do you want?" he frowned getting up from the table going to leave.

You grabbed onto his arm stopping him from moving out of the room.

"Wait," you smiled softly.

He did as he was told crossing his arms over his chest.

You smiled softly, before you signed 'I'm sorry, I love you.'

He looked slightly puzzled by what you had just said.

"Look Clint. I'm sorry I haven't been around. I wanted to learn ASL, so I have spent every moment I have to learn what I can. I don't know too much, but I'm learning for you. If it is easier for you I want to help. I love you Clint, and I wish you told me earlier, but I understand why you didn't tell me," you said slower than you would usually.

"Thank you," he grinned pulling you into a bone crushing hug kissing your shoulder, "It means so much to me that you are trying. But you should have told me you wanted to learn, I can teach you, or even Nat can if you don't want me to teach you. You are so amazing for helping me like this."

He let you out of the right embrace, cupping your face with his hands, pressing his lips to yours. When he pulled away he gave you a warm smile.

"I won't be the best student, but I want to learn for you. And at least if you teach me I don't have the internet to get distracted by cat pictures," you chuckled, "they are so adorable."

"So you don't think we'll get distracted?" he smirked.

"Of course not," you smiled, "but I'm sure you can think of a reward and punishment system."

He raised his eyebrow suggestively, "Really?"

You simply smiled at him.
