Jackson and I rush into the elevator.

Jackson: we'll only be 15 minutes late, tops.

Savannah: we wouldn't be late at all if you weren't so needy. And it would've been nice if you just put the key on the hook. I put it by the door so you would always know where it is. I mean, I had our baby ready to go before—

I was cut off when Jackson crashes his lips on mine.

Jackson: it's not–

Kiss.

Jackson: my fault–

Kiss.

Jackson: that my wife–

Kiss.

Jackson: is so sexy.

Kiss.

Jackson: I just can't keep my hands off you.

I giggle as Jackson starts kissing my neck. The elevator doors open and I smirk at Jackson before I run into the ER.

Owen: it feels like flu symptoms, then GI stuff. It goes without saying that soap, water, and hand sanitizer are your best friends. And if you do feel sick and you can go home, then go home. Spread the word. That's all for now.

I tie my hair up then sanitize my hands before grabbing a tablet and heading over to a bed.

Savannah: hi, I'm Dr. Avery-Collins. Are you Braden?

Braden's mom: yes, this is our little Brady bug.

Braden: mom!

Braden's dad: so, did you speak to our doctor?

Savannah: I did. He said Braden has SCID?

Braden: Bubble Boy disease.

Branden's dad: Braden. He knows that we hate it when he calls it that.

Savannah: and he sent you here?

Braden's mom: yes, he's out of the country—

Savannah: right, but patients with severe combined immunodeficiency syndrome are generally advised to steer clear of high-risk infection areas like a hospital. Without an immune system—

Braden's mom: we know, even a common cold can be life-threatening.

Braden's dad: well, he's in enzyme injections, and they've been working very well. And we were just so worried and– Braden. Face.

Braden: I'm not picking at it. Just touching it.

I dig into my pocket.

Savannah: Braden, how long have you had that, honey?

Braden: this zit? I don't know.

Savannah: I'm just gonna keep an eye on it, okay?

I grab my marker and draw a little circle around the zit.

Braden: geez, why not just draw an arrow and the word zit?

Braden's mom: Braden! Last night, he got congested, and we thought he might be getting a sinus infection, so we called our doctor.

Savannah: and he sent you here to get I.V.I.G antibiotics and labs. Great. Let's get him started.

Parents: stop touching your face!

I get Braden prepped.

-later-

I make my way back to Braden.

Braden's mom: poor guy conked out.

Braden's dad: hey, champ. Doctor's here.

Savannah: hey, Braden, you feeling any better?
