Time has passed since the merger, and I'm sitting in the hallway with a bunch of staff waiting to talk with the Chief after an incident in the ER. Seattle Grace residents on one side, Mercy West residents on the other side. I had my head on Jackson's shoulder and I was texting Natalie to calm my nerves.

Reed: someone's getting fired.

April: stop it.

Charles: she wasn't even my patient.

Cristina: what?

Charles: nothing.

Alex: how long is this gonna take?

Jackson: why, you need to make a phone call?

Charles and Jackson share a laugh, which made me roll their eyes at their childish behaviour. Alex stood up and lunged at Jackson, causing me to get up and try to separate them. While Dr. Derek Shepherd and Dr. Hunt helped me separate Jackson and Alex, Reed and April started arguing with Lexie Grey.

Savannah: guys, stop! Please!

I managed to get a hold of Jackson's scrubs as Chief Webber walked out of the conference room.

Webber: that's enough! I said enough!

I stand in front of Jackson and place my hands on his chest.

Webber: what happened here tonight, what happened to that patient, was inexcusable. And we're gonna be here til I find out who's responsible for it. So until then, you will sit down, you will shut up and you'll wait to be called. Hunt.

Hunt goes in with Webber and I look up at Jackson.

Savannah: you calm now?

Jackson nods at me.

Savannah: hey.

I placed my hand on Jackson's cheek.

Savannah: we're gonna be okay.

Jackson nods at me then sits down.

Reed: why weren't you arguing with us, Sav? You're supposed to be on our side.

I scoff at Reed.

Savannah: are you kidding me, Reed? I'm not on anyone's side! Right now, our patient is dead because someone didn't do their job properly, and there's a big chance that one of us might get fired, and you're talking about taking sides? Grow up, Reed.

I sit down next to Jackson and lay my head on his shoulder.

-later-

After Dr. Yang went in, I went into the conference room.

Savannah: I was in the ER with Dr. Kepner and Dr. Adamson. Dr. Yang handed off the charts to us.

Cristina: here, take these.

Cristina hands us the charts that were in her hands.

Reed: this sucks. Yang's turfing us all the crap cases while she runs outside for the good ones.

Savannah: we're helping people, Reed. That's the thing that matters most.

The three of us go over to the Beckers, a woman and her young son.

April: uh, Cathy Becker?

Cathy: yes, hi.

Savannah: and this little cutie must be Danny. I'm Dr. Collins. Can you come with me, sweetie?

I carefully grab the boy and take him over to the bed right next to his mom.

Cathy: we were drive up to Vancouver to visit my husband. He's up there for work. And the rain wouldn't let up, so we thought, you know, hey, why don't we just stop for the night.
