I just finished feeding Cathy before I have to go to work.

Savannah: you are the prettiest little princess. Yes, you are.

Suddenly, I felt a burning pain building up on my chest.

Savannah: no. No, no, no. Jackson! Jackson!

Jackson bolts into the bedroom.

Jackson: what's going on? Is Cathy okay? What is it, baby?

Savannah: m-my chest. It– it hurts. Take– AHHH!

I felt an excruciating pain shoot through my chest and into my arm, causing me to collapse with Cathy still in my arms, but Jackson catches me before we could fall to the ground. Cathy starts to cry as Jackson takes her in his arms while I cling his body.

Jackson: it's okay, Cathy. Shh, mommy's okay. Daddy's got you.

Savannah: I'm so sorry, baby. Mommy didn't mean to hurt you. Is she okay? Please tell me she's okay.

Jackson: she's okay. See, she's calming down. It's okay, babe.

I let out a shaky breath.

Jackson: are you okay?

Savannah: no.

Jackson: okay, I'm gonna call Hunt and tell him you're not coming—

Savannah: no. I'm going to work. This may be the first time I've had a chest flare-up since I had Cathy, and I know I almost dropped our daughter, but I'm not going to let that stop me from going to work.

Jackson: babe—

Savannah: I'll be fine. I—

I felt more pain course through my body, and I start whimpering in pain.

Savannah: just get Cathy ready and give me a minute.

Jackson: let me take care of you, princess.

Savannah: no, just– hmm. Give me a minute. The pain will pass.

Jackson: come on, babe—

Savannah: babe, please. Just give me a minute.

Jackson sighs as he walks off with Cathy. The second he walked out, I let out a deep breath before I start crying.

After my episode this morning, I walk into the ER and help Owen with a patient in a trauma room.

Owen: ugh, skull is cracked. They said he went through a windshield?

Savannah: v-tach. No pulse!

I slam my fist into his chest then I start compressions.

Savannah: paddles. Charge to 100! Clear!

No change.

Savannah: clear!

I get him back.

Savannah: okay, I've got a rhythm. I got a pulse.

Owen: wait.

Owen checks his pupils.

Owen: no pupillary response, no pain response, visible brain matter, no evidence of brain activity. I think we lost him.

I let out a sigh.

Woman: maybe there's a mistake, please. I need to see him.

I look over at the crying woman near the nurses desk.

I finished speaking with Donald Merced's wife and family then I step out and talk to Owen.
