It didn't happen intentionally, but when Pepper curled up at the end of the couch for you to sit beside her you curled up with your head in her lap at her insistence. Happy had put on the movie and within the first fifteen minutes you had drifted off comfortably. Pepper had been playing with your hair, and you just couldn't help but relax. When you woke up she was using one hand still on your hair while the other was on her phone. You knew that she didn't normally take time off work, but it was still nice that she had tried.
"Movie just finished, I ordered you both your drinks" Happy came into the room with your latte's and you smiled softly at him.
"You spoil me Happy" you took the cup and gratefully took a sip.
"Thank you Happy, you're a lifesaver" Pepper took her cup and smiled at you affectionately. "Did you get enough of a nap?" she looked worried.
"More than enough" you nodded.
"You seemed to be running a bit on the warm side" she touched your cheek.
"I was just tired, it'll go away" you leaned over and gave her a kiss on the cheek. She seemed surprised for a moment and smiled. You stood up and gave Happy a kiss on the cheek and he just chuckled. He was used to it by now. "I'm headed to the lab"
"We didn't get to talk yet" Pepper reminded you.
"We don't need to. I'll sign them" you smiled at her broadly. "I thought about it already". She got up quickly and gave you a hug and a kiss on the cheek before following you towards the lab.
"You've made us very happy" she whispered to you.
"You all have made me very happy as well" you admitted trying to keep your pace with hers. "I never thought my life would end up like this" you flushed a bit.
"Around here, I've learned nothing ends up the way you expect it. It's a good thing" she smiled while branching off to go towards her office and you went into the lab.

"Okay, we have the different inhibitors ready" Tony had them all out on a table and you looked at them apprehensively. You remembered each one took a drop of blood, and were not looking forward to it.
"If this works we need to remember that they are bonded to the individual its used on after the first time, so the team would need to bring spares with them in case there's multiple enhanced"
"Handcuffs first?" Bruce was holding them with the key. You saw him test to make sure that the key worked to unlock them.
"Lets make sure they actually work" Tony turned off your inhibitor and you summoned a ball of fire in your hand while Bruce came over and put the handcuffs on you. The moment you felt the pinch of the needle the fire ball went out and you smiled to yourself. You tried calling on more of your powers, but it didn't work, just as you anticipated. Bruce and Tony tried to get you to do a few more things with your powers, but it was working they wouldn't come. In fact, the harder you tried, the weaker you were starting to feel. You remembered trying to put that into the design, and were surprised that it worked.
"Okay, take them off" you were breaking into a bit of a sweat. "The handcuffs work better than expected"
"What's going on, what are you feeling?" Bruce quickly complied and looked at you worriedly.
"Weak, the harder I tried to use my powers the weaker I feel" you admitted. "I designed them that way". Once they were off, you tried to summon fire in one hand and ice in the other but it took a few minutes to come out.
"Maybe we should wait to continue testing" Tony decided for the three of you. "The cuffs work, the rest will work. They all have the same base design"
"We don't know that its field ready until we test it Tony, bring the leg shackles please" you wiped at your forehead and waited expectantly.
"We don't need to do it right now Sunshine" Bruce shook his head.
"Soldier 23 is still in processing, isn't he?" you looked at him sadly. "It means that they haven't found any kind of weakness. These will help, and it will keep him controlled. We can use them before bringing him into interrogation. We need answers"
"Okay, but this is the last one we are testing for today, then we can work on something else for a bit" Tony nodded to Bruce, and they continued with the experiment. They put the leg cuffs on, and you felt the pinch you were anticipating, and felt the weakness start to take over while you pulled on your powers. You fell back in the chair and looked at Bruce and Tony with glazed eyes.
"Take it off" you whispered. "It works. Reprint them, several times. Send a set to Fury"
"Are you sure Kitten?" Tony looked at you surprised.
"Do you need a rest?" Bruce asked gently.
"I'm sure, and yes. A rest would be best now" you nodded softly as you watched Bruce take them off of you. You put your focus back on the computer once they were off, watching Soldier 23s different interrogations. You were looking for some kind of sign that he was once human. You knew that you had watched the footage several times over already, but you felt like you were missing something. Bruce and Tony had continued to work on decrypting all of the data which had been a slow process. You listened to his voice, looking for fluctuations in his voice as he spoke. You had been at it for a while, when you felt a hand on your shoulder and turned to look at Bruce who smiled at you kindly.
"Come on Sunshine. Time for you to use your powers" he pulled at your shoulder softly. "You've watched it enough for today"
"I need to talk to him" you shook your head.
"No Y/N, that's a bad idea. Let Nat take care of it. She's the best one for interrogations" he was so genuine in what he was saying. "Let her take the lead. Second best is Bucky" he added. "You realize, we want to protect you. We don't want to see you hurt, and the thought of what he did when you went against him bothers all of us. Please, don't fight us on this"
"Morgan said I should listen because you guys have my best interest at heart and you've been at this longer" you nodded. "I'll leave it alone, for now" you promised.
"Good, now come on. We have a surprise for music for today. Happy picked it" he led you out of the room towards the lab that you usually practiced your powers in. "He said that you would love it"
