You woke up in the morning, you listened to Bucky start talking excitedly about seeing Shuri again. He explained how he had spent so much time in Wakanda, and how much she had helped him. He told you how the procedure had been painless, and how she had made him a new arm that was made of vibranium. He sounded more like a proud big brother when he started listing off all of Shuri's accomplishments and how she went out of her way to make sure everything she did was to perfection. You couldn't help but smile at him and just take all of the information in. You were too nervous to say much, and he seemed to know it. He gave you a brief kiss on the lips before proudly walking out of your room already changed for the day.

"Where is that White wolf? The man owes me a hug" you heard a voice down the hallway from you when you were at breakfast with everyone. You saw Bucky grin and get up quickly headed down the hallway, only to come back with a young lady under his arm.
"You must be Y/N" she brushed off Bucky's arm and walked up to you as if full of purpose. "She is prettier than you said White wolf" she gave Bucky a glare, then held out her hand to you to shake. You flushed and stood up to shake her hand. "I can see why you like her" she started looking you over.
"You must be Shuri" you said a little nervously.
"I am, and I'm excited to work with you" she pulled on your hand to go walk with her. You looked over your shoulder at the others, but her energy was hard to ignore. "I heard a lot about you" she smiled. "Bucky texted me a lot about you, so did Tony and Bruce. Don't worry about my treatments. Today won't hurt" she promised.
"I'm used to a little bit of pain" you struggled to keep up with her stride as she brought you to a lab that you hadn't been in before.
"This room is mine for when I come to visit. They know I like my own space. I'll visit more often when my brother isn't working so hard" she pulled you to a table to lay on. "I'll get you a pillow" she left for a moment while you got on the table.
"Is this such a great idea, I mean I just ate" you were hesitant.
"You'll be fine. I have to hurry back home as soon as we are done. Now drink this" she handed you a mug of purple liquid and put down a pillow for you. You saw futuristic looking machinery all over the room and screens everywhere. She put a few monitors on you that you were used to, then sat and waited watching you.
"So just drink this, and fall asleep and the words are gone?" you seemed to think this was too good to be true.
"That's all there is to it. Its not my first time doing this" she nodded. You chugged the liquid, trying not to choke on it. "Its my second" she admitted when you were done, and you almost spit out what was in your mouth. "Don't you dare, you need every drop". You slowly swallowed it, and then laid down as she prompted. You felt heavy, but didn't have the heart to fight the sleep. You knew that you were safe. The team wouldn't have let you come into this room unless it was safe.

You woke up to the words coming out of a speaker and started to fight against the bed straps immediately. You arms were secured down, so were your legs. You knew there was only one word left, and that word would make you mission ready. You didn't want that. Anything but that. You started to panic even more, wanting to fight against the inhibitor. You felt the tingle of your powers start to swirl around you in your panic. You let out a blood curling scream that shattered through the room.
"Phoenix"
The last word came through the speaker and you screamed out, worried that you were activated. You recognized the voice, and saw Tony come around a corner and look at you skeptically. You took a deep inhale and let your powers go.
"Looks like it worked" he looked over to Shuri who was smiling looking at you pulling off the straps.
"That is not the way I thought you would wake me up" you glared at him. "That was dangerous"
"It was safe, I tested it while you were sleeping" Shuri assured you. You started crying in relief, you never thought you were hear those words and kept your mind ever again. She gave you a hug while you continued to weep.
"We made a promise Kitten, Shuri knows what she's doing" Tony came over. "I deleted the words from our databases, this is the last copy of them" he showed you the list. You hiccupped from crying and it pained you to even see the words in front of you. He took out a lighter and you watched as the paper went up in flames. "Just like their control over you, its gone now" he gave a small smile, and you started to laugh slightly.
"I have to get back to my brother, he will get into mischief" Shuri announced once you were done crying a while later.
"Thank you, Shuri" you whispered to her giving her a tight hug. "I'm sorry I doubted you"
"When things calm down around here, bring that White wolf with you and come visit. I'll show you what a real facility looks like" she grinned and grabbed a few items while Tony walked her out. Bruce came into the room and looked at you sheepishly, before getting up on the table beside you and sitting in silence with you.
"What's it feel like to be free?" he finally spoke up.
"I don't even know yet" you shook your head.
"Well, someone has been waiting for you to wake up for a while" he ruffled your hair. "A few people really. But I wanted to see you before you got overwhelmed"
"Thank you Bruce" you gave him a small smile. "I never thought for a moment the day that you landed in my backyard that my life would have changed so drastically. I really thought you would be gone in a few days and I would be back to my normal life"
"This isn't exactly normal, but that wasn't either" he clapped you on the shoulder.
