"Are you okay, baby?" asked Jughead as he traced circles on Betty's bare shoulder blade, taking the quantity of silence into account. "Why do you you call me that? 'Baby?'" Betty asked in ponder, sitting up and keeping the covers close to her chest.

"Do you not like it?" "No, I do. I really do. But why? I mean, I'm not your daughter, nor a two-year-old. So why that name?" Betty replied as Jughead pulled her close to his chest, laying her down again.

"Maybe it's because I want to protect you, like a father would his baby. Maybe it's because you're so filled of life and joy like you were just brought into this world," Jughead thought.

"Maybe it's because of how much I love you, like you're my own blood. Maybe because in some way, some form, you're my little girl."

Betty turned her head up to look up at Jughead for a second before connecting their lips. "What was that for?" chuckled Jughead. "Thank you, Juggie. For wanting to protect me. For loving me," Betty replied. Jughead smiled and kissed her forehead, saying, "Anything for you, baby."
