Together Forever - (Station 19 fanfic)

ZOLA

Carina's POV :

Maya and I started working again, but we made sure Bianca wasn't alone, never. When I was at the hospital, Maya was at home and vice versa with the station, until a day when my wife was on a call and Jo Wilson messaged me, saying there was an emergency with a pregnant woman, and I was the only one who could help.

I rapidly made my way to my daughter's room and knocked at the door. "Bianca, Bianca baby, mamma has to go to the hospital to take care of a patient." I said through the closed door. "Can I come in ?" I asked when I heard no response.

When I entered her bedroom, she was sitting next to the window and looked at me with tears filled eyes. "What is it my love ?" I said approaching her.

"I- You're leaving me ?" She questioned, her voice trembling.

"Oh no no no ! Of course not baby girl. But we talked about it, and we can have emergencies at work, in this case we really have to go, but you can go with me and hang with Meredith or Teddy. Maybe Zola is at the hospital today ? You never met." I tried to comfort her by giving her opportunities to meet people and not be all alone.

"I- I don't know."

"Or you can chose to stay here and take time for yourself." I suggested but she immediately shook her head.

"Mamma no. I don't want to be alone please." She whined at the idea and stretched her arms towards me. I sat next to her and pulled her to my lap, hugging her tightly.

"Ok well here what we're going to do. You're coming at work with me and in the car I'll call the other doctors, making sure someone is free to stay with you. You know how much they love you." I added, kissing the top of her head.

We stayed for few minutes cuddled to each other until Jo sent me another message saying I had to hurry.

"We really need to go sweetie."

She nodded and packed a little bag with things to stay occupied.

We then jumped in the car and I drove quickly still carefully to the hospital, explaining to Bianca why I had to go help the pregnant woman. I also called my doctors friends asking them if they were available and okay to stay with my daughter, and Meredith immediately agreed saying Zola was already very exciting to meet Bianca.

We soon arrived at my work place and after parking on my usual spot, we made our way through the staff' doors. I didn't even had the time to go to my office that Jo arrived all dressed up in scrubs, ready to go in surgery.

"Finally Dr Deluca. We're heading to OR two right now." She stated.

"I just need to take my daughter to my office and page Meredith. Open the patient and I'll be there in a second. You can do it Jo I believe in you."

My fellow doctor nodded and left. I walked Bianca to my office, took my scrubs and paged Meredith who arrived immediately, but not alone.

"Ciao bambina !" I greeted Zola. "You always seem taller than the last time I saw you !"

"It was last week Carina." She laughed and I hugged her quickly before turning to Meredith.

"She's a little stressed without Maya or me but I'm sure she'll be fine. Page me if she needs something. I can find a way to make myself available if-"

"Go Carina. Go cut into someone's body, I know it's been a while, and I know you really miss it. Go. We'll be okay here." She smiled and I thanked her before running to the OR.
