Chapter 250: Toby's POV

As I fucked Spencer hard, I couldn't help but notice that the rain was getting in our way.

"How much longer?" she asked, but I knew she didn't want this to stop.

"Patience, my dear," I said as the rain drenched us.

"I really don't think it's safe to drive all the way back to Stanford in this weather," I told Spencer when we got in the car. The rain had gotten worse and the traffic would probably be horrible.

"Then I guess we'll have to spend the night in my parent's place," she said and I couldn't help but groan. "Do you not like my parents? Or did you expect we could be alone in my dorm room and have sex?"

"Spence, we just had sex!" I argued as she started driving. "I just didn't want to be a bother to your parents."

"Look, Tobes," Spencer said in her soft voice again. "I know you think they don't really like you, but they've gotten a lot better. They know that I love you and that I'll never find someone as amazing as you so they're not going to give you shit for dating me."

"So you're going to tell them that we're dating again?" I asked and she nodded.

"I promise you I will tell them the minute I walk in."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I was worried about you!" Mrs. Hastings sighed when she opened the door. "Damn, it's pouring! Come in!"

As Spencer and I made our way inside the house, Mr. Hastings came into vicinity and started talking to me while Mrs. Hastings and Spencer walked to the kitchen.

"Ah, Toby, so nice to see you."

"Sarcasm?" I asked and then felt stupid. "Um, nice to see you too, Mr. Hastings."

"Why don't you go wash up? I'm assuming you're going to stay the night."

"There's too much traffic for us to drive back to Stanford. Can I take a quick shower?" I asked and he nodded.

"The guest room is the first door on the left," he said and pointed to the stairs. "I'm guessing you don't have a change of clothes."

"No," I admitted.

"No problem. You'll find some old clothes of mine in the guest room closet, which is where you'll be spending the night," Mr. Hastings told me and smiled. Wow, he actually smiled and it didn't even look fake.

I was surprised about how nice and pleasant Spencer's parents were being. Telling them that we are dating should be a breeze!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As I strolled down the stairs, feeling fresh in one of Mr. Hastings' ugly shirts, I could smell the aroma of a delicious dinner. I made my way to the kitchen, but then stopped outside when I saw the three Hastings standing very closely, probably discussing something serious.

"So how long is Toby staying in California?" I heard Mrs. Hastings ask.

"Couple days," Spencer replied and I removed myself from their sight, but made sure I could eavesdrop.

"So what's going on between you two?" Mr. Hastings asked and I smiled. I was ready for Spencer to tell her parents the truth!

"Nothing," Spencer replied to my astonishment. "He just came to visit me and I just want to show him around."

"So you aren't dating?" Mr. Hastings asked.

"No, I assure you that we aren't. Nor will we ever date again," Spencer said and I clenched my fists. I wanted to storm into the kitchen and defend myself and yell at Spencer's parents, but then I realized I wasn't mad at them; I was mad at Spencer.

"Good," Mrs. Hastings said. "Toby and you can never have a long term thing. He isn't your type."

I wanted to scream. What was this madness? Why wasn't Spencer telling the truth? She promised that she would tell her parents that we were dating.

"I know, Mom," Spencer replied. "I'm going to marry some smart and rich Stanford guy."

"Great!" Mr. Hastings said.

I couldn't take this bullshit anymore. I walked past the kitchen, grabbed Spencer's car keys that rested on the living room table, and stormed out the front door.
