Chapter 63: Protected

A few days later

~Trinity's POV~

"I had just finished up my kickboxing class and was waiting on Amelia to finish hers so I waited in the hallway and checked my phone to see that Sergio had messaged me

Sergio and I went to boarding school together during our high school years. We became friends in our junior year and years later he admitted to liking me but was afraid to ask me out because I rejected everyone that asked me out

It wasn't that I was conceited and so full of myself but I was already miserable by myself and I didn't want to have someone else add to my misery so I chose not to date anyone.

While texting him back Amelia's class finishes as she finds me out in the hallway. "How was your class, mommy?"

"Great, my hook shot is coming along well."

"I'm just now getting the hang of roundhouse kicks, they're turning out to be fun."

"You ready to go home?" I asked as we were heading out to the car

"No not yet."

"No? Why not?"

"I made a new friend today at school, her name's Torrie, she just moved from Texas with her mom and she's going to be at the park by her house, so can I go play with her for a little while?"

"I guess so," I said as she smiled

"Yay! You get to meet my new friend."

Later on we made it to the park as immediately Amelia ran over towards Torrie. I met her mom Cassandra, and we sat and talked until she decided to leave.

However Amelia wasn't ready to go just yet and I gave her an additional five minutes, meanwhile I was checking back with Sergio as earlier he told me about his mom passing away.

"Ok Amelia, it's time to go home now." I said standing up as she got down from the monkey bars

"Ok, but can we come back and I can play with Torrie again?"

"I'll have to ask her mom first and if she says Torrie can come then I'll bring you back."

"Okay!" She said happily as we both were walking back to the car

"Are you Trinity Moretti?" A man asked as I turned around to see he was about average height, looked kind of young and in a suit

"Who's asking?"

"I'm detective Jeremy Neidhart from the homicide unit, I just wanna ask you a few questions." He said showing me his badge

"Listen, if this is regarding my husband in some way I would suggest go talk to him."

"Mrs. Moretti you and I both know that's not gonna happen. All I want is for you to answer a few questions, I know this is a bad time and you'd much rather not do this with your daughter being here but this was the only opportunity, just give me five minutes."
