Chapter 20: Deadman Walking

Some time later

It was around 10:45pm when Officer Cantone was getting off of his shift and was heading home after a long day of work.

He walks into his house and turns the lights on as Sebastian was sitting on the couch looking at the picture of the license plate that Lorenzo gave to him.

"I hope I didn't scare you, I've been a little curious these past few days and I was hoping you'd have some answers for me." Sebastian said as Officer Cantone was a little hesitant about Sebastian as Sebastian never looked up
"I don't have anything on me if you're wondering."

"How did you get in here?"

"I'm a master criminal, I can get in virtually anywhere, please have a seat."

"Alright, what do you wanna know?" He asked sitting down as Sebastian still focused on the picture

"The day of the accident, you said there wasn't any cameras around to see who hit Trinity. Later on you give this picture of a license plate to my brother. I'm not so curious as to why you gave me this information, but why would you sell out your family?"

"You found out."

"Of course I was gonna find out, it took a lot of digging but I figured that's what you wanted me to do, otherwise you wouldn't have said anything."

"Listen, I knew eventually you'd find out what my uncle did and I didn't want to be apart of it. I swear on everything I didn't know and at first I was gonna keep it to myself, but I just couldn't live with the guilt and eventually it coming back to haunt me."

"But you still told, you know what that makes you now."

"Of course, I know being a rat is nothing to be proud of but for the sake of my wife and kid, I'll do anything to make sure they're unharmed. I don't want any trouble Mr. Moretti, I just wanna be left out of it by any means. I know I wouldn't be in the position I'm in if it wasn't for my uncle, but I can't live with what he did on my conscious, that's why I gave Lorenzo the plates."

"Let's face it, it's only a matter of time before your uncle realizes that you've sold him out and he's gonna want you and your family dead, so it's only fair that I return the favor to you. You and your wife pack up your things in two days and you may go anywhere of choice, I'll give you money, and a new house to start your life over again, but once you leave, you may never come back."

"What about work? And I'm sure his people will track me down."

"I'll get you a new job and I'll make it where it'll be difficult to find you, but you must leave within two days because I don't know how much longer I can let that bastard walk this earth after what he did to my family."

"Ok, I'll get started immediately." He said as Sebastian stood up

"Good, I hope you enjoy your new life." Sebastian said as he left and got his phone to call Lorenzo
"Any other news?"

"Nothing new, Astrella didn't know anything and I couldn't get in touch with Regio, but our meeting with the rest of the family is still on."

"Alright, I'll be all set until then."
