20. Edward Cullen - Golden Eyes

High school, a dreadful place for every teenager, but after hundreds of years of attending you get used to it, and today was a new start to another school year on another place, this time we moved to Forks, apparently my dad had a friend living there, Carlisle, who I knew but haven't seen him in a couple of years; he was the one who helped my dad when I was born, after all, hybrids are not a common thing in our world and dad needed help when he lost my mom, so Esme and Carlisle helped him.

I closed my eyes and sighed before exiting my car, while walking through the parking lot I could feel some eyes on me, dad already told me that this was a little town so when a new student comes is a novelty, I looked around and saw a tall guy looking at me, I knew he was a vampire, I could tell because of his smell, anyway, I just shrugged it off, I already knew that they were vampires around here so I continued my way to the principal's office to know my schedule.

Edward's POV (third person)

He could feel that scent, it was similar to a human's scent yet sweet as a vampire, he looked through the parking lot to find the owner of it and when he found it he couldn't help but to feel attracted to it.

The one who carried that sweet fragrance was a girl, her skin looked paler than a human but not much as a vampire, he wanted to look away but he couldn't, there was something that he didn't understand.

"Why I cannot hear her thoughts?"

Oddly enough, he wasn't able to hear what she was thinking, that intrigued him even more. He would had stared at her even more, but suddenly she turned away and locked her eyes with his, "golden eyes", he quickly turned away and followed his family inside the school, but his mind was far away thinking about that strange girl.

She couldn't be a vampire, she doesn't have the features, but he was sure she wasn't a human...was she?

(Y/N) POV

Once school was over I drove back home where I found my dad laying on the couch watching TV, I hopped next to him.

"Hard day, I see, huh?"

"Oh yes, exhausting actually" he responded with a deep sigh. "I was thinking that we could go and visit Carlisle, it's been a while since we last saw him" he looked at me with an eyebrow raised.

"Sure, let's go"

After a short 20 minute drive we arrived to Carlisle's house and damn he had good taste and money probably, his house was one of the most beautiful houses that existed in Forks, my dad looked at me with a grin on his face, he surely was thinking the same as me.

We walked to the door and my dad rang the doorbell, in a matter of seconds Carlisle was already opening the door and greeting us inside, and if the outside looked good the inside was ten thousand times better. Carlisle showed us the living room and guided us to the kitchen where Esme was preparing something, when she turned to look at us she smiled happily.

"I can't believe how much you've grown, (Y/N), you look so beautiful" she hugged me and greeted my dad "I made some snacks for you, Carlisle told me that your dad called and said you were coming so I took the opportunity to finally use the kitchen properly"

I chuckled "Thanks, Esme, it wasn't necessary"

"Let's sit down, I want to know how everything was for you two, plus Edward is coming back from school and I want you to meet him, the others went hunting so they won't be here now" she said to me, and I smiled.

Edward's POV (third person)

When Edward crossed the front door he wasn't expecting that strong wave of sweetness that hit him like it did at school, even more, he wasn't expecting to see the same girl from school sitting next to Carlisle and Esme. He went down the stairs and as soon as Esme saw him she got up and gently pushed him closer to the couch where the girl was next to a man, who he supposed was his dad, who was a vampire, he could already tell.

"Edward, this is (Y/N) and Jeremy, her dad, they are old friends and they recently moved to Forks" she explained to him.

He got closer to shake Jeremy's hand, then grabbed (Y/N)'s hand and kissed it, he could see that she blushed a little and strangely he liked that.

"Ed, could you show (Y/N) around? Show her the house" Carlisle asked him and he nodded.

(Y/N) POV

I got up from the couch and followed Edward up the stairs, he gently showed me the entire house, I got to know him a little bit, not that much though, he wasn't very talkative.

At the end we ended in his room, huge room, full of windows with a beautiful view of a forest, also there was a big collection of books and CD'S.

"Ah, this is my room" he nervously commented which made me chuckle a little bit.

"You really have a lot of music in here, I think I know what you do on your free time" I said jokingly and saw him smile, I turned to look to the outside through the windows and an uncomfortable silence surrounded us.

"I'm sorry I'm not that fun, Emmet is the funny one around here, I'm usually the quiet one" I looked at him, he looked embarrassed.

"Don't worry, I like this, the tranquility" I looked again at the forest "I wish I had a view like this at my house, I would sleep so much better if it was this quiet" I looked at him again and this time he seemed to be confused or something like that "¿Is something wrong?"

He smiled again, "No, nothing" silence filled the room again "If you don't mind me asking, why did you and your father moved here?"

I thought the answer for a moment, I knew that Edward realized that my father was a vampire, but I wasn't completely sure that he knew what I was, anyway I answered honestly.

"I finished high school on the other town we were, and my father thought it was moment for us to leave, he remembered he had a friend in Forks and decided it could be good that we came here" he seemed kinda shocked, I guessed he didn't thought I was like him.

"So, you are a vampire? How come?" I knew by his tone that he was intrigued "I don't want to sound weird, but your scent and by the way your heart beats sounds you don't look like one"

"I'm a hybrid, we are really weird but we exist, I thought everyone knew"

"Fascinating" he replied and smiled again.

At one point we both ended up sitting on the couch he had in his room, he opened more to me and we both started talking, he asked questions about me being a hybrid, and I asked him about his life at Forks.

Edward's POV (third person)

He didn't know why, but he couldn't take his eyes off her nor he wanted to, her voice was like a melody to him and he couldn't help but smile every time she smiled, her eyes, her golden eyes attracted him more than anything else, he wanted to know more about her, there was something about (Y/N) that was so intriguing to him, and so fascinating, he just wanted more.

Little did Edward know that he was slowly falling for her.
