I had this idea when I was writing an essay for Drama...

Pretty sure I failed lmao

Also, before anyone starts a riot, I'm not saying that everyone who didn't want to fight in the war was a coward, okay?

You'll understand when you get to that part

This one is okay ig - it's not the best and I apologize lmao

Another Saturday, another wasted afternoon with a shitty date

But here you were, walking alone to the bar where your best friend, Bucky worked

He was the only bartender there, but that was because he did his job incredibly well- if the place was packed, he didn't panic, and he could get through everyone twice as fast as anyone else

He was friendly with everyone, and everyone knew his name - fights rarely broke out, because they knew that Bucky would be able to break it apart easily, despite the fact he didn't look exactly really strong

You'd known him for 6 years, and for 4 of them, you'd had a teensy bit of a crush on him

When I say "A teensy bit of a crush", I mean that you were head over heels in love with him

I mean, how couldn't you be?

Anyways, you dragged yourself through the door, and as soon as Bucky saw you, his face lit up, and he subtly fixed his hair and his posture so that he looked a bit better for you

He didn't have a day off and you felt sorry for him, but he didn't seem to mind, it gave him something to do, and he got to see you every day

When you saw him, you couldn't help but smile, despite your down mood

His white shirt with his sleeves rolled up, coffee brown waistcoat, and the tie hanging undone around his neck, along with his warm smile made your heart flutter

"Hey, Y/N" he said, his raspy voice sending a nice shiver down your spine

"Hi, James" you smiled back at him

He loved it when you used his actual name, and because you were the only person who did, he decided it would be weird for you to call him by his nickname

"What can I get you, Doll? The usual?" he asked, leaning forward on the bar with his arms folded

"No, something stronger" you replied, looking at the glass bottles behind him

He had a surprised look on his face, as he stood up straight and ran his hand through his short, wavy hair

He turned to the side to get your drink ready for you, as he asked "Oh, what happened?"

He wasn't aware of the date you had, as you were trying to get over him, but now, you had to tell him, and you mentally fly kicked yourself down the stairs

"Just a date" you said simply, making him glance back at you for a second in surprise and- jealousy?

"I'm assuming it didn't go so well?" he asked, almost dropping a glass for the first time since his first day, as he wasn't entirely focused on what he was doing

You then laughed and nodded your head to the side "You could say that" he then placed your drink in front of you and pulled a face that made you continue speaking, so you did after a sigh "All he did was stare at me and try to get the date over with so he could 'Get to the fun part'"

As you spoke, you rolled your eyes and brushed it off, but Bucky? He was really fuckin annoyed

He couldn't even begin to imagine why someone would treat you so badly - he protected anyone and everyone who walked through that door, but you especially
