You weren't one to dance, mainly because you didn't know how

It wasn't really your thing - you preferred dancing on your own... When no one's watching... Without any rhythm or professionalism to be seen

That's why you never danced at any of Tony's parties

Most of the other Avengers and Agents did, but you were just happy to sit and watch your friends having fun

Someone else who didn't dance was your boyfriend, Bucky

This was actually quite surprising to all of you - he was quite the dancer in the 40's, Steve called him "Brooklyn's Best Dancer"

The only reason why he didn't dance at these parties was because he noticed that you didn't

Yes, he would reluctantly dance with someone if he was asked at one of these parties, but he wouldn't ask anyone

He tried his best to gain the courage and the confidence to ask you to dance, but he would chicken out every single time

As you were sat here now, watching Wanda and Vision slow dance, as Clint and Scott tried to drag as many people as possible to do the Conga, you laughed as Bucky slipped his metal hand into yours

You looked at him as he took a swig of his drink without looking back at you, and immediately, you could tell something was wrong with him

"Are you okay?" You asked him, placing your glass down on the bar behind you, but he cracked his neck and cleared this throat before be spoke "Yeah, it's just... "

You squeezed his hand for him to finish his sentence, as he finally looked at you

The dim lights around you made his nervousness slightly difficult to see, but you knew he was very nervous

He sighed and turned his entire body to you, as he titled his head to the side and furrowed his eyebrows "Why don't you like dancing?" he asked quietly, to not attract any attention by the pigeon and the ant, who were quite drunk

You looked down at the hand that was connected to his, as you traced shapes on the back of his, making him smile slightly

"It's embarrassing, and anyways, I don't even know how" you answered him, shrugging your shoulders

"Oh" he muttered, disappointment in his voice, creating an awkward tone, so you just continued to draw shapes and patterns into the back of his hand, and he watched, trying to work out how to get you to dance

Then, he got an idea, as his posture got better, and he made you look back up at his face, by hooking a metal finger under your chin, and lifting your head up

"What if I taught you how? Sure, it'll be old fashioned, but at least we'll be dancing together" he asked, his eyes glimmering with hope, and his smile becoming sweeter

You couldn't help the smile that appeared on your face, and you replied "Well, get ready for me to step on your feet every 5 seconds"

At this, you both laughed, and as Bucky took his hands from you, he stood up and stepped in front of you

He put his metal hand behind his back and bowed slightly, as he extended his normal hand out in front of you to take, as he said "May I have this dance?"

His eyes still sparkled, and his smile was still sweet, as you took his hand and replied "You can have all my dances"

Both of you smiled at the other, as he lead you over to the area where other people were dancing

When you both got there, you stood in front of each other, as a few people watched the two of you with a smile, but no one was judging either of you

"Okay, so, you can either hold my hand, or put your hands on my shoulders, chest, or around my neck" he said, as he thought about how beautiful the lights around you made you look

"Which do you prefer?" You asked him, making him look around at the other people dancing

"Well, by the looks of it, around my neck seems to be more modern, but it's up to you" he said, looking back at you

You looked over at Wanda and Vision, and noticed that's how they were dancing, so you nodded and placed both of your hands on the back of his neck

His hair was tied back, making this easier for you, and you smiled when he placed his own hands on your waist and pulled you closer to him

Your boyfriend got distracted for a second, as he got lost in your eyes, but when you cleared your throat, he blushed slightly and looked back at Wanda and Vision

You smirked at him, before following his eyeline at your two friends

"You see the way their feet are moving? In and out and between each other? Try to do that, just one at a time" he encouraged you to try and copy Wanda's movements, and when you managed it without standing on his feet or tripping, he smiled and said "Yeah, that's it, you're doing great, Doll"

When you stumbled a bit, he rubbed your sides with his thumbs, as he continued to speak "Just relax a little, you're starting to get the hang of it"

His praise certainly was helping, as you relaxed your body, and finally looked away from Wanda

When you made eye contact with him again, his expression almost made you melt - he had so much love and adoration in his eyes, and suddenly, you were starting to enjoy dancing with him, as you felt confident with the basic steps, and he didn't try and make you do anything complicated

He just stepped along with you, as you brought yourself closer to him, and the slow song playing surrounded you, and made you fall further in love with your boyfriend

You unknowingly moved to the centre of the room, and gained everyone's attention - no one had ever seen either of you dance before, well, apart from Steve

Bucky didn't realise this either, as he was once again lost in yours eyes, making you look into his own

He sighed as you brought your face closer to his, and said "Have I ever told you just how beautiful you actually are?"

You chuckled lightly and replied "Only a million times"

"Oh, that's not enough" he whispered, not being able to manage his voice from how close you were to him

Both of you were smiling like idiots as you danced slowly, both of you trying to bring the other as close as possible

When you both felt an urge to kiss, your dancing slowed down slightly, and your faces came impossibly closer, as Bucky captured your lips in a soft, yet passionate kiss

During the kiss, you felt Bucky's hold on your waist get ever so slightly tighter, as you melted in his arms

When you both pulled away, a lovestruck expression passed over his face, and you transferred your arms to rest on his chest, as you put your head against it, listening to his heartbeat

He put his own head on top of yours, and wrapped his arms securely around your waist, as both of you closed your eyes and smiled

Bucky knew that he wouldn't ever be able to let you go after this- he loved holding you so close, and the sound of his heart soothed you massively

From that moment on, you would always dance at Tony's parties with him, as it made both of you incredibly happy to dance with the one you loved
