The next day
I woke up early to get ready. I smiled and BFF/N hugged me.
"Knock lover boy off his feet," I walked into the porch, saw him, and all my grown confidence went down the drain. "Its okay. You'll be fine," I managed to walk and get into his truck without falling. I gave him directions and we walked inside. I went to the fitting room and slipped the dress on.
My hands flew to my mouth, shocked I could actually pull off a dress. I walked out and saw C/N talking to one of the workers. He looked up and ignored the rest of the woman's questions. She rolled her eyes and left.
"You look beautiful," he breathed. I twirled and his smile grew wider.
"You think so?" He nodded and I went back to the fitting room.
"Were you not expecting that kind of reaction from him?" The woman helped me out my dress.
"No, I wasn't. I liked him in high school and never got up the courage to tell him anything. Hasn't changed much. Barley got in the car with him this morning," I smiled and walked out holding my dress. C/N was already in the car and on the phone. I hung my dress up and got into the truck.
"I'll let her know. Thanks for calling," he hung up and turned to me. "She wants you to call her," he started to drive and I saw I had a missed call from her. I dialed her phone and she answered immediately.
"Why did you ignore me?" She whined teasingly. I
"Trying on my dress. I'll tell you everything when we get back," she huffed.
"Fine, I can wait for the juicy details of your... Adventure," she giggled. "Is he driving?" I
"Yeah. What did you need earlier?"
"You need to get a reception dress. The day we went, you couldn't come so that's the only this we need desperately. Have fun," she hung up and I sighed. I
"What's wrong?"
"I wanted to wait for dress shopping. I know it's last minute but I'm not good at it," he thought a moment.
"I think I can help, if you don't mind me tagging along," I smiled.
"I guess I'll need all the help I can get," he parked in front of a fast food place and stepped out.
"Will this work?" I nodded, smiling.
"How did you know?"
"Lucky guess," he shrugged and led me inside. We ate then drove us to a dress store.
"Don't think I'll go dress shopping for several decades after this."
"You have your own wedding to be planning before then," he winked and walked further into the store. I pretended to look at the dresses while also trying to figure out what he meant.
"Y/N?" Someone tapped on my arm and I almost screamed.
"Don't do that," I turned and saw he had a few dresses in his arms.
"I'll keep looking. You can try these on," I took them from him and went inside the dressing rooms. I looked at the dresses hesitantly. I tried on one and peeked out the door.
"I like it, just a little too over the top for a reception," I nodded and went back to my room, blushing. I looked at it in the mirror before taking it off. For some odd reason, he got the sizing correct. I tried on another one and thought it was too simple. When I walked out, C/N voiced my opinion.
I tried on another dress and walked out.
"That one isn't as simple as the other one, but I still like it. Makes your eyes pop," he smiled and I went back to the changing room. I hated to take that dress off but I tried on the last one. It was shorter than the other dresses and I shook my head.
"I have another one to try on after this one," he nodded and I went back, knowing my dress was picked. I hung up the other dresses and walked back the C/N. "I think it's this dress," he nodded and I changed back into my cloths. I paid for the dress and headed out to the truck. BFF/N called and made sure we got both dresses. I confirmed and told her she had to wait to see them. A short time later, C/N parked in front of her house.
"I had fun today. I... I'll see you tomorrow," I nodded and went to the front porch with my dresses. I waved at him as he left. BFF/N pulled me inside a while later.
"You've been standing there for 7 minutes," I blushed and went inside. I hung up the dresses and stared at them. I leaned back against my bed and pulled my legs to my chest. "What's wrong?" She sat next to me.
"Pondering something that he told me in the dress shop when looking for the reception dress," I muttered, laying my chin on my legs. " I told him that I wouldn't step inside another dress store for a few decades after the wedding. He told me... I had my own wedding to plan for before that time. Then in the wedding store, he said I looked beautiful," she was silent for a while.
"Your both idiots," she muttered, shaking her head, and leaning over to me in a hug. "You two are made for each other," she got up and grabbed her keys. "I'll be right back. Want to go see my fiance," she walked out and I stared at my dresses.
BFF/N POV
I drove to Jake's house and went inside. I heard C/N groan.
"I don't know what to do. I love her but I can't tell her because I'm afraid of what she'll say," I rolled my eyes and sat in my fiance's lap. He held me close.
"He's been like this since he got here," I nodded.
"So has Y/N," I whispered back. "Hasn't changed much since high school," he agreed.
"Get her to wear a dress and meet us at (restaurant). I've got a plan," he kissed my cheek. I went back to my house and looked through my dresses. I picked out a few options and got my favorite dress.
"Hey. You haven't moved. Quit pondering and pick a dress. If you don't like any of those, I have loads more," I changed into my dress and I came back.
"What's the occasion?" She asked suspiciously.
"We are going to dinner to make you forget about your issues," she looked back at the dresses then picked one. She went to go change and came back.
Before I could respond, she glared at me and held up a hold on finger. She went to my room then came back with black heeled boots, a black jacket, and some tights. She changed again and she walked out. I whistled and she blushed.
"It was too plain and short so I improvised," she shrugged and walked out to the car. I drove to a nearby hotel and the other bridesmaids joined us in the car. We drove to the restaurant and I went inside.
"Reservation for BFF/N. There are 5 of us," the woman nodded.
"It is ready," I waved the girls inside and we went to the table. We sat down and placed our orders. When the guys showed up, everyone, accidentally, was placed in order for the wedding.
"Great idea as always," I whispered. "Onto phase 3," he nodded. I tried not to smile as C/N and Y/N struggled internally. We ate then left.
"Can you drive me to the hotel? It was a little far out of the way for the guys," I nodded and pretended to think.
"What about Y/N? I only have room for 5 people. You could ride in the trunk," I smiled.
"I can take her back to your place. It isn't as far away as the hotel," C/N piped up.
"I think that works. I'll see you in a few, Y/N," I waved and headed to my car.
Y/N POV
This was a set up. C/N took my hand and dragged me to his truck. I looked out the window as he drove. Before long, he pulled into the driveway and stopped.
"I have something to ask you," I looked at him. He took a quick breath. "Will you be my girlfriend? I can't go another day without saying it," I un-buckled my seatbelt and hugged him. He pulled me closer and hugged me back.
"I never imagined that you would every like me back," he shook his head.
"I never just liked you. I... I love you," he put his hand to my neck and kissed me. A car behind us turned on their lights and honked behind us. We jumped and both started laughing when we realized who it was. BFF/N pulled into the driveway next to us and got out of the car.
"Jake called wondering where you were. I'll have to tell them the plan worked," I glared at her over my shoulder.
"I knew it was a set up," she laughed.
"At least you have a boyfriend so I don't have to listen to the 'I love him. Can't tell him my true feelings so I'll just have to take a picture of him while pretending to be on a phone call with my bestie,'" she showed him my phone and I blushed. She went inside and I covered my face in embarrassment.
"Your adorable," he kissed my nose and I blushed again. He pushed me off of him and he got out. He held his hands up and picked me up. He set me on the ground and we walked to the door. He put his hands on my hips and I hugged him.
"I love you," I mumbled into his shirt.
"I love you too," he kissed my forehead and went back to his truck. We waved at each other as he pulled out of the driveway and left.
Reception party, after everyone arrives... C/N POV
I looked around for Y/N and found some of the bridesmaids.
"Hey, who are you looking for?" One asked.
"He's looking for Y/N. She's with BFF/N. Don't exactly know where though," I nodded and thanked her. I went to the elevator and went to the third floor. I heard BFF/N talking and I stood outside the door.
"What do you mean? I get that but why now? I placed the order... I get that. Okay, I'll talk to then about it. Thanks for letting me know," she hung up and I knocked softly. "Come in," I walked in and saw Y/N pacing the floor in jeans and a t-shirt.
"I kind of heard but what exactly happened?"
"At least they told me but the single duo cabin I requested is full today. They said the two people can stay in a small apartment like area on the top floor of this building for free because it was their mistake."
"How she's taking the news, I'm assuming Y/N was one of those people. Who's the other one?"
"I knew we forgot something," Y/N groaned and fell backwards onto the couch.
"You. Guess it slipped out mind because of the planning."
"Okay, any other changes?"
"The food won't be here until next week, which will be too late. The cake almost didn't make the trip. Just need a few touch ups. Flowers won't be here either," Y/N counted on her fingers.
"Not that big of a deal. Show me the plans real quick," she brought out the binder and I sat down. Her head fell into my lap as she showed me food plans and flower arrangements. "Easy. Let me make a few calls and I'll get back with you," I went into a separate room, writing a list of supplies and food numbers.
"Hey Eddie, it's C/N. Do you still live across the street from the cemetery?"
"Haven't heard from you in years. Yea, still there. Hasn't changed much."
"Great. You still have the grill?"
"You bet. Whatcha need?" I explained what was going on and he agreed to help. "I even got the hamburger. Buddy up the road still butchers. Been complaining of having too much. I'll give him a call and let you know what he says."
"I owe you one. Thanks a bunch," I hung up and called several local flower shops to get the different flowers.
"Done," Y/N looked at my lists. "Food is almost taken care of. If plan a doesn't work, we got a plan b. All the flowers are in season and local. Just need to go pick them up. Do you or BFF/N know people who are good with flowers?" I nodded.
"I have some friends who will be here any second. I can show them what to do then they learn quick to repeat them. Thanks for helping. Now she can enjoy the reception without worrying about tomorrow," I stood up beside her and kissed her briefly.
"Your amazing," she beamed and led me back to the main room. BFF/N paced an area and I walked over to her. "Go enjoy the party. Everything is taken care of," she looked over at Y/N and she hugged me.
"Don't know what I would do without you guys," she hugged me then gestured for Y/N to join us. She shook her head and I pulled her over to us.
"What's going on? I heard rumors that the wedding is bring called off,"
"Perfect timing as usual. Wedding is still on, just having to make adjustments. Take her down to the party and let us handle the rest," I pushed BFF/N away. I looked around and couldn't find Y/N. I finally found her looking at two large refrigerators.
"I think this will be enough space for the arrangements," I gave her a list of shops and which flowers to pick up.
"All of the orders are under my name. Need anything else for them, let me know or get the flowers into refrigeration then go to another store," I nodded and went to my car. I went to each of the stores he gave me and got the flowers. We got back and put the flowers into the refrigerators and she called her friends.
She began weaving different flowers into a strand then her friends entered the room. She gave them directions without looking up from her work. She had made 3 strands in barley 20 minutes. We got all of the smaller pins done by the time the strands were done and Y/N had started on the bouquet.
"Just make smaller arrangements, put them in jars and set them in the fridge. Other than that, we are done," she laid a section down and started another one. One by one, her friends left and by 5pm, we were alone again. Her hands shook and I connected the sections. I put the finished bouquet into the fridge and went back to her. I kissed her cheek.
"You did good. Get changed and we'll get something for you to eat," she shook her head. She picked up a piece of ribbon and wrapped it around her fingers.
"I need to relax my hands for a while. Haven't made arrangements like that for a while and I'm not used to it," she threw the ribbon, now a perfect bow, onto the table and took another section of ribbon. She made vows for a while then stood up.
"I think I'm good now. I'm going to change," I nodded and laid out on the couch. Something touched my cheek and I opened my eyes.
"Hey, beautiful," I sat up and stood beside her. "You ready to go?" She nodded and we went downstairs. BFF/N saw us immediately and rushed over to us.
"You look phenomenal! Are you sure he picked this dress out?" I rolled my eyes and she nodded.
"He did," she wobbled a little bit and I held onto her waist. A man with a cheese platter came by and I grabbed a plate.
"Eat, you need food."
"Honestly, I'm fine," I shook my head.
"So you aren't using me to stay upright and skipped lunch?" She grumbled and ate the cheese. BFF/N agreed with me.
Later, end of reception party
I saw BFF/N and she waved for me to go. I led Y/N to the elevator and went to the top floor. I took out key out of my pocket and opened the door. She slumped forward and I barely caught her. I locked the door and tried to wake her up.
"What? I wanna sleep," she groaned and I smiled.
"You need to change out of your dress," she yawned and grabbed some cloths. She went into the bathroom and came back. I had changed into some sweatpants and fixed the bed. I laid down and she fell into my arms. I pulled her into the bed and threw the blankets over us.
One more part for the actual wedding. I feel accomplished. I have started and finished 2 parts in one day. Honestly shocked. Today is Christmas eve but with everything about this year, it doesn't feel right. I hope you guys enjoyed it!
